The reason why it is so hard to hear when a parent acknowledges that they have done wrong to their kids, is the fact that once they say the words outloud and give voice to it....IT MAKES IT REAL. You lived all those years with a secret. Secrets, or hurts that have no voice are buried deep inside us. Give it time, go through the pain you feel, and this pain will no longer have control of you. There is freedom in acknowledging what really happened to you. Freedom for you, and freedom for your mother.
We are here for you. Good luck you all are survivors, not victims of what you had no control over.
