I was born in Maine, but grew up from the age of two in the deep south. I love grits. I lived on a farm. Magnolias are a favorite flower. I've eaten pigs feet, catfish stew, frog legs (that we caught ourselves in a pond)....I still speak with a southern accent.

But, I just cannot get into country music. There have been a few that I liked. Martina McBride's In My Daughter's Eyes made me cry. I like Johnny Cash's voice. Lorrie Morgan's Something in Red. That one made me get a lump in my throat.

    But this is just ridiculous....

    Carrie Underwood..... "Before He Cheats"

Right now he's probably slow dancing with a bleach blonde tramp,
    and she's probably getting frisky...
right now, he's probably buying her some fruity little drink cause she can't shoot whiskey...

Right now, he's probably up behind her with a pool-stick, showing her how to shoot a combo...

    And he don't know...

That I dug my key into the side of his pretty little souped up 4 wheel drive,
carved my name into his leather seats...
I took a Louisville slugger to both headlights,
slashed a hole in all 4 tires...

Maybe next time he'll think before he cheats.

Right now, she's probably up singing some
    white-trash version of Shania karaoke..
Right now, she's probably saying "I'm drunk"
and he's a thinking that he's gonna get lucky,
Right now, he's probably dabbing on 3 dollars worth of that bathroom polo...
    And he don't know...

That I dug my key into the side of his pretty little souped up 4 wheel drive,
carved my name into his leather seats,
I took a Louisville slugger to both headlights,
slashed a hole in all 4 tires...

Maybe next time he'll think before he cheats.

I might've saved a little trouble for the next girl,
Cause the next time that he cheats...

Oh, you know it won't be on me!

    Ohh... not on me...
Cause I dug my key into the side of his pretty little souped up 4 wheel drive,
carved my name into his leather seats...
I took a Louisville slugger to both headlights,
slashed a hole in all 4 tires...

Maybe next time he'll think before he cheats.

Ohh.. Maybe next time he'll think before he cheats...

    Ohh... before he cheats...

Her next song will be about who bailed her out of jail after this little escapade.

I went to a karaoke bar the other night, and when I heard this, I almost fell out of my chair.

    Turn it up some
Alright boys, this is her favorite song
    You know that right
So, if we play it good and loud
She might get up and dance again
Ooh, she put her beer down
    Here she comes
    Here she comes
    Left left left right left
    Whoo

    Husslers shootin' eightball
    Throwin' darts at the wall
Feelin' damn near 10 ft. tall
Here she comes, Lord help us all
Ol' T.W.'s girlfriend done slapped him outta his chair
Poor ole boy, it ain't his fault
It's so hard not to stare
At that honky tonk badonkadonkKeepin' perfect rhythm
    Make ya wanna swing along
    Got it goin' on
    Like Donkey Kong
    And whoo-wee
Shut my mouth, slap your grandma
    There outta be a law
Get the Sheriff on the phone
Lord have mercy, how's she even get them britches on
    That honky tonk badonkadonk
    (Aww son)

Now Honey, you can't blame her
For what her mama gave her
    You ain't gotta hate her
    For workin' that money-maker
    Band shuts down at two
But we're hangin' out till three
We hate to see her go
But love to watch her leave
    With that honky tonk badonkadonk
    Keepin' perfect rhythm
    Make ya wanna swing along
    Got it goin' on
    Like Donkey Kong
(PLEASE tell me this is NOT in reference to what I think it is)
    And whoo-wee
Shut my mouth, slap your grandma
    There outta be a law
Get the Sheriff on the phone
Lord have mercy, how's she even get them britches on
    With that honky tonk badonkadonk
(Ooh, that's what I'm talkin' bout right there, honey)

We don't care bout the drinkin'
    Barely listen to the band
Our hands, they start a shakin'
When she gets the urge to dance
    Drivin' everybody crazy
You think you fell in love
Boys, you better keep your distance
You can look but you can't touch
    That honkey tonk badonkadonk
    Keepin' perfect rhythm
    Make ya wanna swing along
    Got it goin' on
    Like Donkey Kong
    And whoo-wee
Shut my mouth, slap your grandma
    There outta be a law
Get the Sheriff on the phone
Lord have mercy, how's she even get them britches on
    That honky tonk badonkadonk

    That honky tonk badonkadonk
    Yeah, that honky tonk badonkadonk

(That's it, right there boys, that's why we do what we do
It ain't for the money, it ain't for the glory, it ain't for the free whiskey
    It's for the badonkadonk)

Don't get me wrong, proph....I'm not all that fascinated with any music these days. Hip Hop is dead (Nas was right) R&B all sounds the same. I can't tell the difference between Neyo, Omarion, and Chris Brown. Rock all sounds the same. I'm waiting 4 "something." Until then, I'm sticking to Prince. The only true musical genius IMO.

Well damn, everyone is in my corner of this world.

You can learn alot about life from a country music song.

Posters are puttin up the popular musicians...but if you want to really go for a good time, rockin' country band . . . try "The Tractors". Listen to the song "I wouldn't tell you no lie." http://www.thetractors.com/albums/allamerican2_mp3.php

"Let me get a big 'hell yeah' from the redneck girls like me, HELL YEAH"!!! I love country music, but also love many other genres.

check out this clip from a guy I know, Matt Scullion, he was raised in our small town, now lives in Tamworth (australia's country music capital). He's done years of hard yards and is just starting to make it big over here. yippee!
