In the battle between Apologists and Apostates, who do you think more often comes around to the other point of view and why?

IMHO, Apologists (or trolls) are just potential Apostates who need a little more time in the oven. (In other words, they are not fully baked, only "half-baked.") They have already taken that first important step and defied the WTS instructions about the internet.

Why would an "informed apostate" change unless they were Gumbyfied?? The only time I can see someone going back to the vomit is if they terribly miss their family and friends and go thru the motions.

    Point well made BizzyBee.

I would add that the Watch Tower apologist is in the same position today that a Catholic expert on the earth centered universe was in Galaleo's day. Reality will eventually knock them right over despite the strength of their misguided belief. WatchTowerism is a time-proven false religion. Facts are facts and the Watch Tower Society cannot be spirit directed by God because they have been proven flat out wrong so very often by the passage of time and the unfolding of world events.

The fact that the Society is wrong isn't even an argument or a battle of opinions and it is certainly not due to apostate propaganda. Time has proven their own claims to be false and anyone who says otherwise is clearly deluding themselves and ignoring the facts.

The amount of frustration and emotion that can be stirred up by an apologist is very telling. There is obviously a huge reservoir of unresolved anger and disillusion waiting to be tapped.

It seems as though anyone who appears to be associated with JWs is seen as a visible scape goat for these feelings. Most apologists or trolls are dissociated JWs who are caught in the in between.

They are no longer in the Watchtower but have not full let go and become 'part of the world.' They visit to see what ex-JW land looks like. They are perverse and unkind because they have not yet got a handle on their own emotions. They long for the security of the Watchtower but are attracted to life in the wild. They need to replace the feeling of approval they lost when they started doubting their mother organization.

    They need help and understanding.

Unfortunately people who are in pain themselves are unable to see their jibes as a call for help.

Apologists are far more likely to come around to the "apostate" point of view. It rarely happens the other way - once enlightened very difficult to go back

Exactly, Trev, and I would add 'frightened.' Underneath the false bravado is a lot of fear which makes them go on the offensive. The more fear, the more insults hurled.

Informed Apostates are just one small surgical procedure away from going back to Jehovah's True Organization.

Fortunately for them, frontal lobotomies have fallen out of favor in the medical community.

I think it was a recorded judicial committee that I was listening to where the elder "'warned" the defendant that, of all the DF offenses, 99% of those who are DF for apostacy never come back. He offered this as proof that apostates were under the devil's control or something. Well, obviously...
