Went to a salon today with picture in hand. I spent 2/1/2 hours suffering in the chair, (foiling and cut). I wound up with about 6 to 7 inches lopped off and came out looking like a big haired, bubble headed 80's special. (NOTHING LIKE THE PICTURE)
I am $103.00 poorer and want to stick my head into the sand and never come out. Instead I am downing a bottle of Cabernet and looking forward to about a year of bad hair days.

since i am a man, i dont have the same issue, buti do remember once asking to have my sideburns trimmed, and one got completely lopped off, when i protested the lady then stated, and seriously, not sarcastically; "do you want me to leave the other one?"

yeah, I've had bad haircuts before!! Makes you feel like crying doesn't it?
Thankfully it will grow out, hopefully it won't be as long as a year!

I've had so many bad hair cut experiences it's insane. This one happened a few years ago:
I bought one of those Entertainment books and decided to try out a new place I found inside my book, it was called "The Posse" or something like that. I get there with my little brother since I was afraid of getting lost in an area I was not familiar with all by myself and we go inside (at this point I realize it's a salon for black people). Not wanting to seem like I was racist (because I'm not at all) I decided to stay and have my hair cut. Me and my brother sitting in the lobby standing out like a couple of sore thumbs with our neon white skin... The man who's going to cut my hair comes out and calls my name I go back and as I sit there and he is talking to me about what I want, I realize I'm detecting some seriously intense liquor on his breath.
Long story short, I went in with long hair for a trim only and ended up with a 70's shag cut that was so terrible.
Then to top it all off (because I am an idiot) I tip the guy a huge tip and cried all the way home. My poor brother...

In a day and age when people get haircuts that look like they just got out of bed, and it's considered "stylish", I think you will be fine, no matter how bad a job they did. Just say it's the current style out of Hollywood.

Was it the first time that you went to this hair dresser? You should have made clear to her what sort of hair style you want. Once a hair dresser gave me the wrong style but it was easy to correct because the hair was left too long in some places and could be trimmed back and corrected.

The Hell I'm going to post a picture! I've always had long straight blond hair, granted it has been highlighted as I've gotten older. It use to just end at the top of my jeans. I have kept it just past my shoulder blades in length in later years (age 47)
My new doo is a cross between a cyndi lauper special, and a mullet.
God help me.......

Green Dawn, I'd love to have it straightened out, but too late. If there are any more layers cut, I'll be bald. I had a picture. She said that it would be a great cut for my hair. It was smooth sleek and long enough. I came out looking like a poodle.
Misanthropic I did the same thing, I left a big tip because I didn't want to wait for the change. I just had to get out of there......went straight to the liqueur store with sun glasses on in the rain, and saw a lot of staring. .....omg.....
