Your first mistake was paying over $100 for a fricking hair cut. ;-)

I feel your pain, Restrangled. My mom used to cut my hair when I was a preteen, and the very last haircut she gave me, was horrific! She had to keep cutting, because one side was always longer than the other.....I remember the kids calling me, Dutchy.....After that, I grew my hair long.

Being a hairstylist, I remember in school, learning to look at photos, and cutting the exact style. There were some, who just did not get it it. You have to visualize the hair, at every angle. When I am cutting, I'm thinking about how the hair is going to react to the cut, how it's going to lay when I let it down, and how the client is going to be able to manage once at home. Some stylists are just not good at that. Unfortunately. I have a hell of a time, finding someone to cut my hair properly.....so I usually cut it myself. Which reminds me, I need to get my scissors out....

Chin up, go back and demand your money back. Show the manager the picture you took in and tell her your hair looks nothing like it. She should notice it, give you your money back, and give her employee hell. Best wishes hon.

Yes..... when we first moved to Texas, I kept seeing these $3.99 haircut signs. So I thought, why not? I just need a trim. My hair was close to shoulder length, with a few loose layers for body. When I went in, I could see that all the hairdressers were Vietnamese women who spoke little english. I told the lady I just wanted a trim. She began combing all the hair on top from back to front, and cut it all bang length. Then she cut the sides straight around, right under my ears. I came out looking like a little child with an asian looking hair cut.

What could I do? I'd gotten the hair cut that was worth what I paid for it.

Yeah, I cut my own hair once and butchered it up pretty bad!

I went to the barber to fix it and I think he was trying not to laugh. He told me a story about one guy who came in for the same reason after he and his drunk buddies decided to give each other drunk haircuts the night before. I wasn't all that amused.

(at this point I realize it's a salon for black people).

I used to sometimes go into a similar type of barber shop. First time I went in I mentioned I wanted it long on the top (relatively speaking). He asked, "wha? you want a line on the top?" "no...no!" He did a great job though.

I remember giving my cousin a bad haircut once....he wanted it pretty short to begin with, almost to the wood, but I had the wrong clipper blade on, and I gave him a landing strip right down the center of his head. I was horrified, he laughed, and we took it down to the wood, with some fancy little racing stripes at each side.....it looked real cool after all.

......never did that again. I ALWAYS check what length clipper blades I have on before going ahead.

    Delihlah....

The problem is she did a great job with the color which was most of the bill. The other hair dressers all agreed that the cut would be great for me. It was a small local salon and my mom has been going there for several years to this girl. So I really don't feel I can make a stink about it.

I lost my 2 great hair dressers through the years, both men. One had the most gorgeous hair you would ever want to see. Waist length black curly hair in perfect condition.(to bring up a bible term, it reminded me of "Absolem") He knew how to take care of long hair and was not scissor happy! He especially loved long blond hair and was an expert. Both fellows moved.

The girl I just went to was originally from Iran but has been here for many years. I asked my mom, are you sure I'm not going to pay the price for being a blond American. I was assured she would be ok.

It didn't seem to work that way in my opinion. She was as sweet as can be, so I just can't be angry with her. They were all paid directly so there were no house charges. Apparently they all split the bill for rent.

In my experience, you get what you pay for. But, then again, I get my hair cut at a place named "Larry's Shearing Shed" (seriously!)...

A few years ago my neighbour was training and convinced me to let her cut my hair.

I went from having hair down to the middle of my back to around my ears, also the plan was to have slight reddish tint put in, it ended up bright red. Simon had one hell of a shock when he came home from work that day.

    Angharad,

How did you ever survive? Right now I have combed out the hair I have left and put it up in a pony tail so that I don't have to deal with what happened .....albiet a very short pony tail!

I once got a haircut so bad that people would say "you got your hair cut!" and then just say hmmmmmm and look away awkwardly. It was really really bad, and quite short so it took a long time to grow out.
