Restrangled, YES! In this town the question would be, "have you ever had a GOOD haircut?" You have my complete empathy.

I am so feeling your pain. When my mom died, I decided to get my hair cut before the funeral. I went in with long layers, asked for a trim and came out looking like the lead singer of an 80s hair band with short curly bangs (my hair's naturally wavy) and everything else long. How you say?...... mullet!

And then I had to drive 1,000 miles to see people I hadn't seen for 20 years who weren't going to speak to me anyway. Oh, and I was a little sad too, what with the dead mom and all. It was horrible. I'd be crying hysterically about missing my mom and then accidentally walk by a mirror. My daughter helped me though. She figured out how to pin it up so it actually looked slightly cute for the big day at the KH. Didn't get my hair cut for a year and a half after that - until two weeks ago, as a matter of fact.

Just keep pinning it up and doing the ponytail thing. It's gonna suck to be you for a while, but it will get better. It always does.

    Brother Apostate,

I'm glad you got a good laugh over this and I always enjoy your sense of humor.....i'm not offended and actually laughed at the thought of you laughing.

I still feel like a full blown bubble headed bleached blond....I might as well have a siren attached to myself where ever I go. I can feel eyes following me because my hair actually glows in the dark! Enjoy the mental picture , .....cause I'm feeling increasingly bitchy as time goes on!

It could be that they figure they aren't giving you your money's worth if they just trim it. Restrangled, have you thought about a hat, a wig maybe? Einstein would just take all his hair, pile it on top his head, pull it, and cut it with a pair of scissors. Brilliant. I have yet to be so intelligent that I don't care about my hair. I have long curly hair that takes twice the normal time to grow. Nobody touches it but me, and, YES, I think hair is a big deal, I am really feeling for you.

Guess what, I'm taking my dogs for a walk in the dark and I don't even need a flash light!

Have you ever noticed that some people never get a "good" haircut, while others never get a "bad" one? I'm not making accusations, but consider this. Perhaps it has something to do with our self-perception and expectations, and how we convey those to the hair stylist. I remember my dad going into barbers and they'd ask him what he wanted. He said, "I want you to make me look 20 pounds lighter and 30 years younger." He joked, but I get the feeling that some people really want that.

Cellist, Hemp lover, and Numinous (spelling) thanks for your thoughts and all else who PM'd me.

At least I am not alone in my freak of nature look! I will be pony tailing it for quite some time.
