Will the WTS ever show a decrease in publishers?

The world wide JW publishers increased by only 1.6% in recent years, so it is only a matter of time until the WTS will have to start showing a decrease in publishers. Here are some reasons why

    1. Many young JW are 'rebellng' against WTS authority and are becoming just like mini satans according to a recent WT article

    2. Many JW of all ages are leaving the WTS because of the internet

    3. Many 'wordly' persons are being 'innoculated' against catching the JW bug because of the internet

    4. It is getting very expensive to be a JW because of high gas prices - driving to meetings, assemblies, field service etc.

    5. A crash in the real estate market will cause a crash in the WTS empire

From the facts taht you give they seem to be on the decline at least in the western enlightened world, they will try to make up by deceiving people in more backward countries.

    Definitely.

When the end does not occur by 2014 the whole JW doctrinal structure will seem quite irrelevant to thinking people.

For many years to come people will be attracted to high control religions and cults, but most likely in lower numbers due to increased education. In the 1800's the Watchtower was enlightening to people in a less educated world. However Watchtower doctrine has not kept pace with new knowledge and is becoming more glaringly incorrect as science and historical knowledge progresses.

Actually the numbers did drop after 1975

    1977 -1.0%

    1978 -1.4%

    1979 0.5%

But then the 1975 JWs left and people came in that had no clue about the big 1975 push by the WTS. Most JWs have no idea about a 7,000 year creative day and that 6,000 years of human history supposed ended in 1975 on the cusp of the 1,000 Reign of Christ.

They will continue to fudge the numbers so as not to alarm the captives. Publishers will decrease, contributions will continue to decrease, selling off properties will continue to pick up cash to pay legal fees. Child abuse cases will multiply, no blood will catch up to them also. Wrongful death, the tort of misrepresentation will eventually be their downfall.

They seem to be trying very hard to keep their active publisher stats high these days.

The memorial and district convention invitation tracts, and the fact that a jw can remain
active with just 15 minutes of service per month obviously help, as did the distribution of
kn37 last autumn. I wouldn't be at all surprised if they come up with another kn campaign
this year as well - anything to reassure the flock that, whatever us wicked apostates say,
    the org is still growing.

As long as jw parents are able to blackmail their pre and early teen kids into baptism,
those figures will stay reasonably stable as well, and they will most likely concentrate
more than ever on people in third world countries who don't have internet access to keep
bringing in adult recruits. I think the adult baptisms in the western world will gradually all
but die out, and the decreases they are showing here will continue, but as long as they
can fudge the figures enough to show even a tiny increase, they will be able to keep most
    of the flock happy.

I sure hope so, AND DAMN SOON! I don't want them to celebrate the next million milestone.

As for will they, I have seen some horrible news: a new unbaptized publisher in our own congregation (they found me at work and boasted about it). And worse still is Nigeria. That's why I keep harping on Nigeria. They had around 280,000 publishers last year, but more than 450,000 Bible studies. Worse, those Bible studies are more likely to become publishers than the same number of studies in the United States or Europe. Other African and South American countries are also showing significantly more studies than pubs, but none worse than Nigeria.

An even worse potential threat is China and Bangladesh. In China, they only have a few thousand Witlesses and a population of 1.3 billion. If that explodes, they could easily have more than 2 million at one point. If they reach the same Witless/population of the US, they would have about 4 million in China alone. And Bangladesh has somewhere near 150 Witlesses and a country of 150 million people. They are chronically short of Witlesses. If that were to change, we could easily see another 600,000 or more drones out of there alone.

Truly, in the developed world, the peak is here or near. The US had paltry growth. Canada had nearly zero growth, and Japan had negative growth. I think the growth is going to shift toward the poorer countries because there is no education and plenty of superstition in those areas. Bad news.
