The C.O. who was not on the jc. but knew about the case told us to make sure that we Disfellowship that young man. Without us even haven't heard this young man's story or if he was repentance. So, the other elders went there to df him no matter what he said.

One side of my family is Catholic and my Mom always harped on their having to confess their sins to a priest. That was so obviously a sign of Satan's influence!!!

Well, as a kid with no sins to confess (until I started spanking the monkey) I went along with this. In time I learned that JW's were supposed to confess their sins, too---

but instead of just one guy, they had to confess to three guys! And then if you were really bad, shit! The WHOLE congo learned you were bad, whereas the priest kept it

    a secret.

So, I should never have gotten baptized. I should have let my teenage brain prevail.

Why is it that a JC is convened if a person in PUBLIC gets drunk once but if a person IN THEIR HOME, PRIVATELY has a battle with the bottle, they might not be in judicial trouble?

Because all the WT cares about is it's public image, both in and out of the congregation; it is a CORPORATION. They exist to make sure they are around tomorrow. They take care of the money, the image.

It is NOT a religion; it is a corporation masquerading as a religion.

I used to hear it said they were a printing house masquerading as a religion, but they are way past that now; they sell insurance, they are a mortgage broker, they are a broker for fixing up houses in battered areas and collecting the donation, all without paying a dime for labor.

minimus...you and I both know the whole damn Borg is flawed. I regret ever serving on most of these JCs as an elder. Yet, the ones that need a committee (and a court date and jail time), the PEDOPHILES, often never sit in front of a JC. HYPOCRITES.

Why, just today I heard that an elder in one local congo, an elder in his 30's, beautiful wife, 2 beautiful kids, successful multi-million dollar business, got busted for DUI! It was in the local paper then on the local radio station. I head he is not an elder now. dont know if he was allowed to quietly "step aside" or was deleted. One publisher in the same KH different congo heard it on the radio, called someone, it went through the grapevine...finally to a former elder (not me),,who called an elder in the KH where the DUI elder is...and was told to "quit making waves, just let it go," Of course, he did the right thing and did not "let it go". The elder is no longer an elder....

I have been told it was not judicial, not even private. What a load of CRAP. If you or I went out and got a DUI, we'd have our ass in front of a judicial committee kangaroo court so fast it would make our head spin. Thank goodness he did not hurt and/or kill anyone. I don't know if his family was in the vehicle with him or not. IDIOT!

I have no respect for him or the Borg.

Hillary, I see your point. Regarding though, the suggestion that Paul transferred certain Judaic concepts in the Christian congregation, I feel it would be a stretch to accept that Paul could've been suggesting the type of shunning that the Witnesses practice. Were there not 3 different types of shunning that occured in Jewish life? The fact that Christ put an end to the Law and all its regulations, made early Christianity free from Judaizers. I believe the WTS tries to integrate the Jewish way of life with JW life. I always said that Jehovah's Witnesses were more of a Jewish religious offshoot than a Christian religion.

I wanted to put this in from CoC.....

"How many favorable decisions would the Witnesses have recieved if the Supreme Court justices had not shown such judicious wisdom, such ability to see where the real issue lay, such concern for the individual? Their decisions were applauded in the Society's publications. Sadly, however, the high standards of judgment and the approach to emotionally charged issues shown by these judges often appered to be on a higher level than manifested in many Governing Body sessions.
