I think part of the problem in dealing with a new kind of enemy in hte information age is getiing to the bottom of things by listening to your gut and understanding who the enemy really is and what they want. How you present yourself in a war to the public is a very tricky busines and one the enemy takes adavantage of if you are inept at communicating. During a time of war obviously some things are not privy to public as this would aid the enemy. Because this is a time of war it is far more crucial.
During Clintons administration he lied about sleeping with monica lewinsky. He still lied and phychiatrists have actually studied his face to show how an expert does it. He was still trusted and admired. He got away with this, because he holds himself well and communicated indredibly cleverly. Had this lie happened during a time of war his credibility would have taken a much higher toll. If a person lies about one thing, can you trust them about anything else? Understanding the dynamics you must understand that humans will lie.
During the Reagan administration he lied about the Iran contra scandal. They all lie. It's just some are better at it than others and they speak better. Reagan was loved even with this massive scandal as was oliver North. They still did there jobs well. They did not have to deal with what poor Bush is dealing with. Give the poor guy a frigging break!

Saddam was exactly what the usa is looking for now, for that country; a secular ruler, who can preside over the different factions. This was even stated by one of bush's politicos. S

First of all I'd like to clear one myth. I don't have any smurfs. They left me years ago. We used to have a great time together, me and Papa, Smurfette, Handy, Jokey and the gang. We used to play in the garden, make each other valentines cards, life was sweet. Until I took them to my KH, after not even 20 minutes I heard a "what the f*^k did you have to bring us here for?" then they got up and walked out! Never saw them again, I miss them
It is easy to blame a new president for not seeing the danger. That is why Al Qaeda struck when it did. To test his steel. Sure he knew they were up to things but he didn't know anymore than we about what was going to happen anymore than anyone knew about the planned attacks on Fort Dix. Do you think he has a crystal ball? It even makes more sense that they struck while he was fishing. To make him look incompetant. They knew exactly what they were doing.
Bin Laden was behind the 1998 bombings of the US embassies in Africa and the 2000 attack on the USS Cole in Yemen. He planned attacks in the US to coincide with the milennium celebrations, (only he was stopped). Bush was given a report entitled "Bin Laden Determined To Attack Inside The US", detailing how he had agents in the country attending flight schools that were greatly interested in learning to fly the plane but didn't want to know how to land one.... Yet Bush had no way of knowing anything would happen. No way at all. Wait! I know where my smurfs are now!
As for making Bush look incompentant, he dosen't need any help there. He's more than capable of doing that one all by himself.
Now Al Qaeda's hands are tied and they are on the run.
Uh, sorry to tell you this, they're not. That's the most tragic part of the situation here. They're having the time of their lives. Thats the point I keep trying to make but you just don't get. Al Quaeda isn't worried about Bush at all. They're getting stronger every day.
Are you not aware that Saddam Husein was a huge sponsor of terrorism? He could have kept them going finacially for eternity. You must strike the source. Bin ladin is nothing more than a figurehead. They are still finding funding but at least they're being kept busy and hurting like hell.
Gee, I just though since Bin Laden has been behind so many terrorist acts. As for Saddam being a huge sponsor of terrorism, the US supported him through the war with Iran, they even sold him the weapons. Again, don't think so. Terrorism is now a far greater threat than it ever was.
I know, I know! Islamic Radical terrorists are innocent and we are evil.
Once again, I never said terrorists were "good" by all means wipe them out, but the majority of people being killed in Iraq are not terrorists. How would you feel if your neighbourhood was bombed? When there are only civilians and no military? Dosen't kill any terrorists, but makes a few on the way.
There are only two choices here. Pick one! The greater evil or the lesser evil. If you choose neither, then you are siding with the enemy, and that is what they want. What is your movement about anyways. Whats the other choice I'm missing here?
Do you honestly think Bush is going to rid the world of terrorism?
Well I sure hope he gives it a dam good try. There is no room for evil in a global world or the spread of evil for the greater good of mankind, it must be fought. And not with Valentine cards.
You can't change peoples attitudes. There is always going to be someone who hates you. This is nothing new and terrorism is nothing new. It is since the occupation of Iraq that this issue has esculated. Bush should have gone straight after those responsible for 911 and left everyone else out of it. That sends a message that the US does not tolerate terrorism while at the same time not escalating the situation any further. Better still, he should have stopped the 911 attacks in the first place. But Papa smurf wanted to go fishing....
Even if he manages to wipe out every terrorist on the planet, there will always be more to take their place. What do you do then? May as well just nuke the whole planet, that will rid the world of terrorism.
Cuz he doesn't have crystal balls and his superman cape was getting ironed at the cleaners . He couldn't leap the towers to redirect the planes. Imagine the president doing this in his underware.
Okay thats a mental image I didn't need
Have you not seen the link I sent on this thread with threats.
Yes I have. Good cuz I'm gonna send another clip when I'm done mopping up
This article is from last year. Whats the death toll for this year? For the month of May, one US soldier is killed every 6 hours and 7,295 Iraqis. Don't think Al Quaeda is too worried.
I think we're just gonna have to agree to disagree. I can't change your mind, you can't change mine. I'm off to play with the fairies in my garden and to send another valentines card to that nice man I met in Saudi Arabia. Cheers!

In the eighties our relationship with Saddam was better some 27 years ago...However Iran militants were running amuck and kidnapping innocent people from the U S embassy. We wanted our people back. So why not help Saddam at that time?
The Iran-Iraq war (1980-1988) was one of a series of crises during an era of upheaval in the Middle East: revolution in Iran, occupation of the U.S. embassy in Tehran by militant students

Sadam had to be removed but not like this. Bush & company should be tried as war criminals for going to war vs. Irak against the UN wishes and under false pretext.
My wife said that history will catch up with him and even at an old age, Bush will be brough to trial. CIA director Tennet should be inline right behind.

why are people so stuck on "they didnt have WMD's the war is based on lies!"
we gave them a warning telling them that were going to invade, which gave them plenty of time to get the WMD's out of the country. even before the warning dont you thinkn that saddam knew the u.s. was coming after him. the dude wasnt that stupid. of course he is going to hide them or ship them out somewhere. so its no wonder we never found them, because they were already gone.
everyone says that there is proof he didnt have them because we havent found them. well the answer is right there WE HAVENT FOUND THEM, doesnt mean he never had them.
ever think about that?

Weapons Inspectors who were in Iraq at least a year before the
invasionoccupation of Iraq began were reporting no signs of WMDs. Yes Saddam kept kicking them out, I know. One Australian inspector who resigned in protest even reported being told by our government to not inspect certain sites as they suspected there were no WMDs and they wanted to keep some areas as a mystery so they could use the argument "we didn't know". Sounds like lies to me. -
