Growing up, we had a siamese cat who lived for 17 years....she was a sweetheart.

I had an afghan hound that lived to be 17 years old..And a miniature schnauzer that lived to 2 months shy of 17...Longer than any of my marriages...

The ex had my beloved Shih-tzu put to sleep at the local pound as punishment when I refused to return to Jehovah.
I had her for 5 years until that fateful day.

One of my birds is 30, one 27, and another whose age I'm not sure of I think may be older. I also have 2 of their offspring that are 17. As Finally Free mentioned earlier, they live a long time by pet standards, mine are still young adults.

I have a cat, Sam, that turned 17 last Halloween. He howls really loudly all the time. He always "talked" a lot but these noises he's making now sounds as if he is in pain or something. I thought that maybe there was something wrong with him and bought him to the vet. Over $200 spent to find out there's nothing wrong. He's just "vocal".
Buggers, to be honest I am so done with cleaning kitty litter. I really wish he would check out. The kitten that I got to keep him company when he was 5 died last year.
