Do you think that the 'Convention' tract work will seem silly to most?

In this territory it will mean 'inviting' people to a religious convention about 200 miles away, about a religion that most already do not care about.

I believe this could be a 'tactical error' on the part of the GB, who seem mostly interesting in keeping the urgency level on high with this. But as far as future converts are concerned, won't most people who were riding the fence as to classifying this group as a cult, go ahead and jump down on the affirmative side of the fence with this stupidity?

I was unaware of this; you seem to indicate that the Society have published advertising leaflets, as in those of the memorial kind, to get people to turn up to the convention?

    Absolutely Jeff.

    Ludicrous.

    Absurd.

This is a dead giveaway on how out of touch the JW leadership is with the rest of humanity.

The above thread shows the tract. Jeff

I have a long comment, but "YES" could suffice.

A person who isn't studying with Jehovah's Witnesses is sitting at home
with family or friends, and "What should we do this weekend?" comes up.

"Well, I have this flyer someone left in the front door. We could drive 3.5 hours
    to check it out."

"That's funny, no really. What do you want to do?"

I have been at plenty of doors with the Watchtower and the householders think
we were searching for the lost JW's or something. Many will think the same thing-
They are inviting everyone just to find their own people.

Some people will think that they must be a cult inviting people to 3 days of indoctrination
at their long weekend getaway. That is what the Moonies and others did in the past.

The invitation work is just busy-work that doesn't cost much. "We did Jehovah's will, it's
up to them to accept the invitation. It's clearly from God's true organization, so only goatlike
people will toss it in the garbage." Utter nonsense.

I was thinking about this for the tract work of last year's convention. Most of the congregations would have to drive 3 hours to get there. Would a person who doesn't care to go to a local meeting really make the time and effort and money to drive that far for a convention?

    Yes. Crazy. Lunacy. Idiocy.

To think that I used to believe we were doing God's work. Warning people. Extending the love of God to them.

And all the time those people knew better than I. Those goats at the door knew more truth than I ever had.

Have I mentioned the WTS are evil?

Future converts are not the aim at all. They don't seriously want a bunch of unwashed worldlies showing up at conventions thirsting for knowledge.

The "invitation" is just a front to show they carry out "free educational programs" in compliance with non-profit rules. The aim is to maintain precious tax-free status.

The publishers fall for the ruse that they're performing lifesaving work and everyone's happy in la la land. The zero success rate never even phases them.
