Told To Buy Emergency Kits ...Ever Heard of This?

B&C, shows you how stupid the WTS thinks the "flock" is and how stupid the "leaders" were during recent disasters in areas where JWs live. As Irreverent has said, JWs need to be told how to blow their noses and wipe their rears and know the difference.

The sad thing would be if the WTS and some brother(s) were making a killing by "helping" supply these items. After all, "worldly" people are just a bunch of ripoff artists. No JW would ever cheat another JW (only if he/she were sure no human would find out).

I can remember an elder who conducted a book study was always calling us for the phone numbers of the people in his group. If there had been a disaster, and he had to coordinate "helping" the people in his group, they would have been floating out to sea while he tried to find their phone numbers.

I finally made a list for him and gave his wife a copy as well.

I was told of a pedophile, gun-toting, JW who had spent thousands on preparing for the end, food, guns, emergency supplies, you know. The elders knew of his purchases and plans, and not a word.........especially, not about being a pedophile.

Hanging around quick builds and Bethel for years, I learned that it was amazing that there weren't more disasters at those places based on the mental acuity and humility of the organizers.

Of course, the federal and local government aren't always better examples.

What do you think should be in a home emergency kit?

OMG, that must mean that all gun toting JW's are pedophiles, huh?

I guess that your story would have a lot more credibility if you had written proof, huh? Who cares if he spends millions on generators, bomb shelters, and heaven forbid....guns. Pedophelia, on the other hand is a totally different scenario.

Dont confuse child molestation with one's 2nd ammendment rights.

It was just one person; I hope the majority here did not think that I was saying that all gun-toting people are pedophiles. Pedophiles are so skilled at manipulating their victims, they never need a gun. He just happened to have that added to the mix. He ended up being arrested for kidnapping his wife at gunpoint and the pedophile bit then came out when the police interviewed the family on the gun bit. That is on file. But If I tell you who, I might tell too much about me.

These same elders also made sure this man was reinstated in 8 months since he had "invested" the money of many of them and was losing it hand over fist as he languished in his df'd state.

Imagine, they df'd him for threatening his wife with a gun, but allowed his wife to get a scriptural divorce on the basis of the sexual misconduct with a child.

I wondered too how many JWs I knew that thought that all they had to do was get to the KH and they would be safe from tornados, hurricanes, arresting police, guns, bombs, etc. One year, the meeting was not cancelled although 2 tornadoes had been sighted within 1 mile of the local KH. People driving around that to get to the KH. The tornado warning alarm went off during the meeting in a building with no basement and no safe room, not a modicum of safety. One sister joked that they would all fly off to the new system like Dorothy flew off to Oz.

Just to reminisce: I left JWs just a few months after Katrina. They collected relief supplies and filled a room full of it to give to the "brothers and sisters". We were supposed to feel so loved and being cared for by Jehovah's organization... hahaha... A lot of the churches were doing far more not only for their members but also for the community.

And some of you might find it interesting that I still have releif supplies left -- two years later I still have hygene stuff left (lots of soap)!

Yeah, my mom was spouting off some nonsence last summer regarding how the "Society" was recommending that good little JDubs stock up on necessities. After I got past my initial reaction and swallowed the vomit and bile that had found it's way into my mouth, I realized that perhaps my mother and the heavenly appointed governing body was on to something. So.....I went out and bought one of these for just such a life or death survival type situation.

Not to mention you never know when some "government knows what's best for you" senator is going to introduce an unconstitutional bill to the house restricting my liberty.

The emegency kits suggested by the society are not a rumor. In my area of BC, all the congregations were given a list by the BOE of everything that we should have ready. I saw the list myself when my husband brought it home. It is a standard emergency list. Every family was also given a paper to fill out with all their emergency contact info, including work, home and cell numbers. They were asked to hand them in to their book study conductors. I didn't keep the list, but I will try to see if I can get another copy from my husband.

I''ve never head of buying an emergency kit, but at my KH I do recall being told (several times) we should always attend and pay attention at the meetings because if you don't a brother might one day be giving evacuation instructions on where to go etc when armaegeddon comes, "you don't want to die at armaegeddon because you didn't pay attention do you?"

Yah, lots of the rank and file probably sat back figuring the WTS would bail them out during disasters so they could spend their own money on more fun things. Then the WTS got hit with the expectations. Although I'm sure that the money eventually still came out of the pockets of the rank and file through constant appeals at the meetings, the WTS most likely had to ante up the money up front at first and at a time I am strongly convinced they are already having a negative cash flow.

    What a scam! http://www.ministrydiary.com/emergency.html

It is also recommended that each household have ready an Emergency Kit. This should be kept as accessible as possible, as you may be unable to go back inside your home after an Earthquake. A water tight container is recommended for most items.
