i have a really hard time entertaining the thought that 'demons' might be real.of course the might be called demons but are different things to different people.they simply dont exist in my world..nor do angels..i live in a seraphum-free zone...
Hermano Of course, as soon as a person hears or sees something out of the ordinary, if they are a jw, they think demons. There could be another explanation. I mean, why the voice of the child of you and your wife? Also, what was the goal of the hypnosis you were doing? What were some of the techniques? What about your subconscious? S

Just to go against the grain ,i firmly believe angels and their bad brothers demons exist.Firstly u still have to retain a belief in Jah for this to make sense.Then u have to still believe that the spirit world is actually pretty interactive with the material world.How else can u explain totally weird shit happening at seances?How can u explain things like people(fortune tellers) being able to predict the future with uncanny accuracy?
I do believe that if u are truly open to be possessed,then u will be,even if u realise it or not.And i dont wish that on my worst enemy,u become nothing but a puppet.

Well gee, a few ways. Btw, do they still do seances? The ones that i read about, often were fake. Spirits of dead people can also explain some of the stuff. Why jump to a god, demons and goody two shoes angels?
Are you suggesting that demons can see the future? Again, you don't need a jewish god, and jewish mythology to explain accurate predictions. We humans are also spirit. Some have the ability to at times jump out of the present and to other times. As well, there may be other ways that psychic people could do this. Also, there are a lot of faker psychics.

What the above poster said is correct, we all go in and out of different states of conscienceless every day. And not just when we go to sleep. For instance if you have been to a meeting at a kingdom hall, I guarantee you, you were in a hypnotic state of mind a good portion of the time. You go into that same state, veging out in front of the TV, and when you daydream. So if you fear that demons may have access to you in this sate. You will have to be very diligent to always be very alert, 24/7. Which is impossible!
And going along with your line of reasoning, supposing there is a god that loves us. Do you really think he would allow demons such easy access to his children? Imagine, watching TV or dozing on your front porch, would leave you open to attack! Is this loving or fair?
On a few ocassions I "blacked out" for a few seconds in the middle of my daily routine. In one instance I was at work, and for a few seconds I have no memory of what I was thinking about or what I did.
Now here is where demons are scary to me. You have had unexplained blackouts, but instead of consulting a doctor, you suspect demons. Now that is dangerous! You may have a serious medical condition!
Also at night, I frequently couldn't sleep. Both myself and my wife kept waking up cause we heard noises. Also I began experiencing hypnopompia/hypnogogia on a regular basis.
Hypnopompia is frequently blamed on demons. I heard many stories while in the dubs that all had similar themes. I didn't believe all of them because they were usually told and retold so you can be sure that they were "enhanced". but I had a dear friend who had an experience like that, and so I was certain of the details. Her experience was horrifying, and we were both certain it was demons. But now I know their is a medical explanation for it, and it is common.
One night my wife and I were lying in bed, wide awake and we heard the voice of our child right next to us in bed. Except our child was sleeping in her room. That freaked me out a bit because we were both wide awake and we both heard the same thing. And my wife who is still a JW has never done hypnosis.
I have no explanation for this. Maybe you and your wife were both in a semi conscienceness state. And your daughter in the next room called out in her sleep. Being parents, you heard this call distinctly and close by. Just a guess.
BTW when I vacuum, I frequently hear my children calling me. This would really scare me when I was a JW, and boy did I pray a lot over it! But I think it's a parent thing, no matter what you are doing, you always have one ear cocked listening for the kids. And since vacuuming can drown out a lot of noise, I'm listening so hard that I can actually hear it, even if my kids aren't vocalizing it. Either that or every vacuum cleaner I have owned for the past 25 years has been demonized. Or maybe I'm demonized but the only way the demons can reach me is through my vacuum cleaner. And they just love yelling "Mommm", and watching me switch off the machine and yell "wha-at".

Yes, but there are different levels of hypnosis. Like I said, in some sessions I maintanied consciousness and in others it was like I fell asleep. So maybe being lightly hypnotised does not open your mind up to the spirit realm, but being deeply hypnotized does.

I don't think the God-as-a-loving-parent model works. I beleive this is what jamesthomas was saying. Maybe instead of saying God and demons, we should speak of good and evil forces. Personally I do not beleive God is constantly watching over our every detail in order to protect us. I think he's too busy looking after the bigger picture, i.e., making sure the Universe is running in proper order.
