I agree with you Greendawn, I wish we had something a little more formal to work with, something with some clout and power.

If I were a millionaire, I would give generously to advertise against this cult.

Junction_Guy - As admirable as that aspiration really is, the WT would drag you into court and quickly remove every last dime that you own! You cannot fight a money hungry legal machine like the WT and win. They would use every trick in the book against you and you'd be broke as a flea by the end of it.

Only a poor or annonymous guy can beat this giant.

Don't forget how fanatically religious freedom is protected in the US and in the UK. Being a supposed 'religion' is the shield the Watchtower hides behind. As long as they continue to use the words, 'God', 'Jesus', 'prayer,' and 'Bible' they run free .

A man cannot walk into a bank in the UK wearing a ski mask, but he CAN walk in wearing a Burka! Do you see what I'm saying?!

    Greendawn,

I admire your thoughts, but agree with most that you can't organize us.

HOWEVER, there is already several of 'us' waging a real war against the WT Society. Since "Trust" is an issue, who else could be trusted to carry on heated conflict with the WT Society than DANNY HAZZARD?

I don't believe he has ever asked for a dime, but I bet if you gave him a dime to assault the WT he would use it for that.

What do you think? If Danny started getting checks in for hundreds, maybe thousands of people I have no doubt that he would use the money wisely. Many of us could prevail on him to establish a 'help line' for assisting those who are shoved out of the org. and I am sure that he would look to people like you for assistance.

We have a LARGE group of trustworthy people already on the forum. Blondie, Mary, Danny, yourself, and the list goes on. Some are already organized to assist us with quotes, suggestions, etc.

I think the solution to your suggestion is to use who and what has already proven to have those goals that you mention.

I for one would support an effort like that. Give it some thought.

I see what you are saying, but I would also have a team of high powered lawyers, I would also have a few judges on my side.

If lawyers in this country were powerful enough to remove school prayer, strike reference to God from the pledge of allegiance, I believe there are lawyers that could successfully take on the WT Society.

I dont have a million dollars, so it's all a dream anyway.

Greendawn, there are so many issues when dealing with the WT Society. Alot of XJW's have their own issues when dealing with the org. Those who were shunnned, those who were molested, those who lost loved ones in death, each of these have their own niche in dealing with the WT org. Whenever it becomes organized then you will have some of the above factions who might want their cause to have more atention.

I despise the JW org on all counts, and to me they are all important issues.

I want this organization brought to justice for crimes against humanity.

Junction_Guy - We are not fighting a conventional war. We are fighting a Guerilla war. No one EVER wins against a Guerilla army unless the guerilla army chooses to surrender and I don't see any white flags waving around here.

It is only a matter of time. It's our annonymity that is our greatest weapon.

The emerging evidence in most Western countries is that the Watchtower's succesful growth is a thing of the past. This kind of "proves" you can be Organized all you like and still remain stagnant.

There's plenty of eye-opening information available for those JWs who bother to go looking for it. The fact that they don't go looking for it, means that if it's brought to them they will certainly ignore it.

You don't need an massively organised group of ex-JWs.

I honestly have my doubts about whether this is a good idea or not. I know it can sound tempting, but If you're talking about protests and flyers and the like, I think you are only playing into the Society's hands. Witnesses and "worldly" people alike tend to see such efforts as the kind of things only weirdos do. I'm not saying this makes you a weirdo, only that most people shrug at stuff like that and forget it a day or two later. Even worse, it gives the WT someone to point and laugh at. I really don't think it makes much of a difference in the long run. Most people just don't care enough to listen unless they are already anti-WT. Which helps no one. Besides, if you are busy fighting the WTS, then it is--in a sense--still dominating your life. Moving on is far better. Like others have said, living well is the best revenge. I think people who join the Society often do so because they are looking for something. Most of the time, they'll give it a try so long as the Witnesses they meet seem friendly enough. Warnings rarely impress people who are searching like that.

If you are just talking about informing people, then there are other problems. You have to seem trustworthy and reasonable. Yet the bigger your efforts, the less believable you will seem. "Who would spend so much time and money on a project like this if they weren't passionately anti-WT?" they'll ask. "How can I trust this person's opinion? Who should I believe--the pro-Witness zealot at my door, or the anti-Witness zealots? Maybe I should go start going to the meetings and find out for myself..."

The Witnesses can seem very reasonable to people who don't know any better. (At first) It's hard to denounce a group like that without coming off as a little crazy or prejudiced yourself, even if your efforts are fairly mild. You may even help the Society make converts if you aren't very careful. More often than not, groups like the WTS get you coming and going. I doubt many people take the anti-WT sites you see too seriously unless they are already anti-WT. But that helps no one.

How can you put forth any major effort without looking like an anti-Witness zealot with an axe to grind? I think that's the very first question you have to ask before you consider going forward. Why should people listen at all? Why should they believe your story and not the WT's? You have to be subtle and make your message appealing. A big organization will probably undermine those efforts. But that's just my POV.

Reasons AGAINST being organised is exactly as Issac has said, it makes one APPEAR like some fanatical nut with an axe to grind. This is the attack that the WT uses on anyone that tries to stand against it! 'They're bitter!' 'They've got an axe to grind!' They have even used this on lawyers who have tried to help ex JWs.

Reason FOR having some kind of orgnized manner in exposing the WT, is the estimated number of JW deaths every year for the blood transfusion ban!

Wouldn't anyone, absolutely anyone at all try to prevent the loss of nearly a thousand people a year through this ludicrous ban!

People are entitled to believe whatever they want! Many people like the WT beliefs. It makes them feel special. It gives them a 'security blanket' for their bad days. Many of us would have been 'losers' anyway, without the WT holding us down by our throats. They are allowed their beliefs.

They are not allowed to indirectly murder a thousand people a year.

They are not allowed to drive Disfellowshiped persons to such despair that they kill themselves.

These two facts alone are enough reason for all ex JWs to still stand, even if they stand alone, to expose the Watchtower Society for what it is. The rest of the Bull Shit they spout, well, if anyone wants to believe it, that's fair enough by me!
