I'm in the same boat as you kinda. Im almost obsessed with finding out stuff. some of my family is still "in". I feel like i need to help them get free. May the strength and power of Jesus Christ be with you to get through this. Just dont give up on him being your salvation. He's calling you.Thats why you left. You have been rescued.

Books by former members are a great way to start putting things in perspective. I suggest both of Ray Franzs' books, as well as both of Carl Olof Jonsson's books are must reads. James Pentons books are good as well, but I think he pushes some of his evidence a little far.

IMHO (In my hillbilly opinion) the two softest spots on the underbelly of the WT is this:

697BC: Get the book "The Gentile Times Reconsidered" by Carl Olof Johnson. Read it. Buy an extra copy.

Central Theme of the Good News: Not God's Goverment: It is the Oportunitty of reconciliation to the Creator through the person of Christ.

Welcome, as others pointed out most JWs will not listen to anything that opposes their organisation seeing it as devil inspired propaganda against their god appointed leaders and organisation. They will remove you very quickly so that you will not be able to expose their lies.

But if you wish to learn more there are numerous websites if you Google key words like jehovah witness, watchtower, Charles Taze Russell, Joseph Franklin Rutherford.

Some of their big flaws: they got the 1914 date from the adventists and they didn't work it out themselves, Charles Russell and Rutherford were involved in occultism and had intimate connections with Jewish Free masons, they duped many capable young JWs away from university education with the false pretext that university degrees would soon become worthless, they allow now blood products that if allowed from the beginning would have saved many lives, their 144 000 elite concept is a shambles there is no such thing as two classes of christians biblically speaking etc

You really don't need to explain why you are leaving. If any one asks just say you are taking a new path. If someone tries to get you to appear a committee just ignore it. Your best bet is to find a liberal Christian church and start going there. There is always the Unitarian Universal and other similar churches. Your best bet is to get involved in a new church and find out that there are other choices for you. IOW go church shopping for a few months.

Don't dwell too much on being an ex-JW and live your live because tomorrow you may no longer be here. I was involved in a charismatic Christian cult when I was 18 and the Pastor ended up being exposed as a fraud and that made me mad for about two years until I found a new church. Just be concerned about your relationship with God and don't worry about what others think then get some new friends.

In your community you will find other believers that will have struggles similar to yours and you will find jerks. When you meet a jerk just wipe their dust from your feet and keep on trucking.

Another thing is to forget everything you were ever taught about the bible by the JW's and read it by yourself everyday for the next year. That is what I did to get rid of the beliefs from the charismatic cult I belonged to.

Why do you think that you have to prove anything? They're not going to listen and you don't need for them to "understand" where you are coming from. Just get out. I know that may sound easier than it is. I am in the process of getting out myself. I'm starting by missing meetings. This weekend I will miss an assembly, too. I'm just going to make myself scarce.

A big issue that EVERYTHING doctorinal in the organization hinges on is the issue with 607. Here is my story and how I began to question 607 and what I shockingly found. Also..in the Insight book under Nebuchadnezzar it quotes a author AK Grayson as supporting that date. What is crucial about this?? He is a world expert on Assyrian and Babylonian writings used by the British Museum. So naturally it seemed shocking that he would support that date when every place you look at the British Museum online says 586/587 for the destruction of Jerusalem. If you don't have 607, then the Faithful Slave was NOT appointed in 1919 etc.. then just who IS running the show?? So I will send you the link to what I scanned when I actually checked out the book they quote in the Insight book and you will see for yourself the deciept. I had a hard time getting the scans uploaded, so scroll through the thread, and eventually you will see for yourself what I found. You can check the book out from the library although they had to order mine for me from a local university. Anyhow..there are many different subjects to research on..how about is Jesus your Mediator??? I bet you thought as a Witness he was?? I sure did..well that is NOT what they teach. He is the Mediator for the 144,000 only and it is ONLY by your association with them that you have a chance of having your sins forgiven. Contrary to what the Bible says!! So in all reality they are the rank and files Mediator. Oh..but Jesus is the rank and files High Priest!! Go figure..I always thought they were one in the same. A go between. Well anyhow..see you got me going..Ha Ha Ha I will post a few threads for you to look at. It should keep you busy for a while!!

Hi WT. welcome, .... yep you've hit the right spot there's allot of intelligent and informative people here that can help you out, good honest people too

so do your personal research and drop back here for support if you need it. I'd have to say that it's seems far more easer to fade out of this religion today thankfully impart

to the information vehicle provided by the inter-net. When I faded out back in the 70's there was absolutely no support to by found anywhere, I just sensed that something was just not right

and now today I find those assumptions were absolutely correct........So good luck on your awakening
