My compassion (and anger toward the organization) goes to the sisters who have been made believe that they couldn't do a happy marriage outside the congregation. You can see real weariness on their faces. The WTS bears, indeed, a huge responsability before Jehovah for their predicament.
What's Your Opinion Of Today's Jehovah's Witness?

I think Brooklyn is preparing to prey on a whole new generation of JWs. As we all get older, they will concentrate their efforts on the young ones. I'm sure they will find some that will be stay in the Borg for life, so they will have a new audience. I'm sure that at some time in the future, they will try to control the next generation of dubs with another surefire date (just like they did to us in 1975).

The org itself hasn't changed one bit since the 1980's when I left judging from what people say here and otehr sites. They continue to be totally dictatorial and to hold numerous erroneous doctrines. They gave up the 1914 generation as a literal one but they still go on the same way and still people die of the blood ban though some of its restrictions have been lifted.

Min,
You've touched on something here. I was thinking of starting a thread related. It seems that the "active" witnesses are more angry with inactive ones than concerned for their spiritual welfare. Why? I think its because they are still attending those horrifically boring meetings and the inactive ones are not. Its a sort of passive aggressive jealousy thing. They have to endure the same old crap to be survivors and "please" Jehooooooverooski, and yet the inactive folks seem just as nice, likeable and dare I say, spiritual, as the regular attenders? They have to slam them in order to justify their regular meeting slavery.
In answer, today's JW is a life on hold, self-righteous fanatic unable to reason beyond what they are told in the Watchtowell and Mistake magazines. In the 60's they were the little band of righteous ones called from the world to make known the way to the waters of truth. Now they are the millions who have what nobody else has, special favor. This size thing has become a bragging rite and not a cause for real happiness.

Many will miss meetings and go away for leisure time at weekends etc, Many youngsters having sex and leading double lives
I have noticed this trend as well. In fact I missed so many mtgs earlier this year and the only reaction I got from the rest of the body of elders is ".....we'd like to sit for a few minutes and make sure you are ok". 20 yrs ago elders didn't miss mtgs unless you were contagious or bed-ridden.

I can see what Wasa is saying. The remaining attenders have to endure meeting boredom. Yet inactive ones can have their cake and eat it too.

I can see that jealousy bit as well.
I don't think they realize it themselves though. I think they allow themselves to feel anger toward inactive ones because they can justify it through what the WTS has told them about leaving the bOrg.
The WTS is like enabler to someone who continues in a bad habit or in destructive behavior.

Wasa hits the nail on the head with the "passive, aggressive, jealousy thing". The ones we have told we are not attending meetings now have said to us that they are disappointed we are not going to continue "to suffer with them". I feel very sad for most of them because they really are struggling whether they admit it or not. The fun and love has definitely gone. One friend was interested in where we would be in 5 years' time as "the world was now our oyster", she came round the other day and she looked so sad I could've cried. They have not a clue as to what a wonderful full life they could have if they just had some balls..... Very, very sad.
