We found out a brother was gay when at our wedding a single brother and a married sister had too much to drink and ended up in bed at his house. Turns out she never had sex with her husband and after all the scandal of their sexual encounter was known about the congregation, her husband came out and admitted he was actually gay.That was the scandal of the year in our congregation.

I've known a handful of gay brothers (one of whom I almost married, a wonderful man and still a friend), and two lesbian sisters who were almost open about being a couple- they had a house together, and took vacations together, everything. They had some sort of argument, one of them moved out, and married a man. Her former partner was devastated. This was around the time I stopped attending, so I have no idea how the story ends.

Here's a little experience i will tell here, it's Ok since Amanda is already aware.

Last summer I went to a gay law enforcement meetup in Florida. I was still struggling to find out where I fit in in this world, so I thought I would give it a chance.

One of the guys I had contacted prior to going mentioned to me on the phone that he has a friend who is a JW and a fireman.

Well down in Florida while we were outside a restaurant waiting for our party room to come available, I started talking with someone about my experiences growing up a JW, right then and there this guy in our group gave me the funniest look, but I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that he was a JW, just by that look.

Well later on at the table he ended up sitting next to me, but I could tell that he felt uneasy. Come to find out he is a friend of this guy I mentioned above and he is a fireman, this guy was definitely a JW and Im sure he so wanted to counter what I said earlier in defense of the WT, however that would have also outed him to me, and he wouldnt want anyone back home in his congregation to find out that he went to a gay law enforcement event.

Well anyway I didnt really have a good time there, and it just reinforced what I already knew, that I can't fit in with that lifestyle as I wasnt meant to be.

When I read how some feel that the fact that young men are not encouraged to do typical normal (worldly) things as Witnesses and this might very well have an effect upon their becoming gay, I must chuckle.

there was a sister at my hall (only one )who talked in a high pitched voice....minced about and looked lovingly at guys....she was really weird....her face was really smooth too...I think she was effeminate

There was a elders son in my last cong who was gay and everybody knew it....he just doesn't know it yet! I've watched this kid grow up, and i'd bet the rent money he will come out (if he hasn't already).

I knew of 4 women that lived together and one had been married before and one sister was mostly a "butch" type, she was kinda like the "leader" of the group. She had a very powerful personality. Evidently, an elder accused her of being a lesbian and told her that her "power" over the other women was more than strange. She flipped out, took her chicks with her and moved to another state.

I remember seeing these ladies at a get together one evening and they had a new admirer with them. She was a young, 20ish girl who looked at the ring leader as though she were God! My friend who was in the place, whispered to me that he could only WISH that a woman would look at him like that.

I knew 2 brothers that were NPG's. Another who married then 'came out' a couple of years later. Last I heard he was dating men, still kept his privleges at his local congregation (microphone duties etc). His wife was disfellowshipped because she left him (he bashed her) and admitted to sleeping with someone else.
