Now, what are you left with?
What does your observation of reality, the natural world around you, teach you?
What is real?
What is simply assumed to be real, without any supporting evidence of any kind?

Ahh, if only I could... If my mom had not become a witness and turned into a zealot missionarry wanna be, I'm pretty sure I would have been raised in an atmosphere where I was free to think. I would not be playing "catch up" with reality at a letter stage in life. I do not believe I would have been drawn to religion on my own. Currently, I regard myself as an agnostic and feel quite comfortable with this position. I'm in agreement with what I know of Humanism, but I am reluctant to affiliate with any particulat group.
nvrgnbk, That life can be real, enjoyable, it can and will be what we make it, with love, peace and happiness. And I believe Mrs. Flipper and I will have another beer and put shrimp or salmon on the barbie, thank you very much, Peace out, Mr. Flipper

Enjoy it while it lasts if you're happy.

This experiment is done, already. All over the world, they had no Bible and Watchtowers.
Most people still don't have one or the other in their hands or homes. They are the
vast majority of peoples of the world. When they don't have religion, they invent it. It may
not be Christian, but it's usually involving unseen forces. It rarely sticks to the known realities.
Man is getting closer and closer to known realities, though. Many are ready for facing the
unknown without a crutch. Count me in.

I cant do it. It is too much a part of me. So I have a bias.
I dont know if your getting at that I will see evolution, because I dont and cant. My observation of reality tells me. There was a world wide flood. That at one time there was a canopy over the earth and that the whole earth had a mild climate 78 degrees. They have found palm trees in the north pole and animals fast frozen with fresh food in their mouths. All cultures have the flood story.
But reality also tells me that the JW's are false prophets. I dont know what to think about the bible.
Now if I never saw a bible or watchtower or read anything maybe I could believe in evolution. But not really because you have to read about evolution to believe it.
Then again maybe you are not even insinuating evolution. I just have that on my mind because of what I was reading last night.
If I didnt read anything, I probably would conclude the world is a cold brutal place. Dog eat dog. And the world operates by the golden rule. The one with the gold makes the rules.
And the one who has the gold is the one who didnt play by the rules, thats how he got the gold. Like the Kennedys, children of outlaws then they end up having the gold and making the rules. Thats what I see.
You live a short while after you spend a life working like a dog and then you die, never to be seen in this dimension again.
But I see everything is too complex not to have a designer. I can take a box of bolts and tubes and electrodes and shake them forever and I will never shake out a computer.
I guess my observation tells me, that their is an incredible mystery that we dont understand regarding life and where we came from and where we are going.

I'm not "getting at" anything brother.
Just trying to "see" what's there once we strip away the dogma. I see alot of wisdom and honesty in your last thought................

What is real is your life. Choice is real. How you choose to live your life is real. The universe is real, and I have to agree with jaguarbass; I see design in the natural world and the universe. Looking up into the night sky, gives me a reverential feeling.

OTWO, I agree.
