Well, actually this thread IS NOT about what you think it is. Please re-read purp's original post and come back and tell us what it is about.

That right there is the problem. Law Enforcement Officer. When I was a kid I heard the police refered to as "Peace Officers". Now they have taken the title L.E.O. and are proud of it. The mental stance taken is worlds apart with those two terms. It is now us (the police) vs. them (everybody else). When I was a kid, the police were people to look up to and feel protected by. Now I am almost more afraid of them than I am of criminals. At least I know where I stand with criminals.

I wonder what it would have been like if the cop would have tried to befriend these kids and reason with them instead of the brute force way he handled himself.

Now we have a youtube video with ....who knows a half million views possibly today, of more skater kids disliking cops even more. Maybe kids are more disrespectful, but its a two way street, cops have done alot of things to be disrespected.

And then its all over the media for everyone to see. So the perception, for children watching this, is that they can do the same. They are programmed to do the same.

And I have seen alot of comments comparing the UK cops to the USA cops and there seems to be a stark contrast. I think I would like to see more comparisons and comments about how the UK feel about there law enforcement.
