Grace! You would have been a very young mother at age fifteen!!
I was a MOTHER at sixteen ANNIE!!!!
Wow that is really cool....have fun you deserve it. Aren't you glad you left so that you have the ability to experience life before we are not able to. Sounds simply wonderful.
Leslie
Thanks, LeslieV, it WAS wonderful!
I am home again wearing a big tired grin, and bone tired from doing a lot more walking than I usually do.....and from climbing into a variety of trucks and vans while the "last minute" changes were made to the line-up and who was going to follow (or tow) the six boats that were chosen to be displayed. I must have been in five different vehicles within an hour, LOL!
I wanna tell ya---Bass boats are the sleekest and some of the classiest boats on the water....and they all are designed with that sparkly paint that catches in the bright sun. REALLY pretty to look at!
One of the (minor) drawbacks to this was that I think one of the biggest attractions to any parade, is the marching bands. Since we were in the parade and not watching from the sidelines, I just figured we wouldn't be actually be seeing (or hearing:o) any of the bands.....and as luck would have it....we were placed right behind a great band that we followed through the entire parade! It was such a terrific touch!
The weather was clear and sunny---but very cool and quite breezy, so I was grateful that I was inside a van and not out on the boat! When we got to the intersection where the harbor is---where the river meets with Lake Ontario---you could feel a distinct drop in the temperature in the breeze off the Lake!
Hubby shot some pics of the day and put them up on the computer....but I am just too tired at the moment, to monkey around with trying to figure out how to post them here. I just wanted to check in and tell everyone what a great day it was and that everything went pretty well!
Hubby said he would be putting the pics up on his website soon, so if I can't figure out how to put them here on JWD, I will re-post the link to his site when he does so.
Gonna say goodnite now.....
hugs,
Annie
The pictures are up on the website http://portcitybassmasters.org/mycustompage0042.htm and hubby was having a devil of a time with the HTML for some reason. (Hmmm....that should say "the 4th of July parade!) He finally got it straightened out...and the article and pictures are up there!!
I am in the top and bottom rows....the third picture in from the left on both rows!
We DID have a very good day!
I just emptied out my purse and found a stash of miniature candy boxes (like the kind you give out on Halloween) and Tootsie Pops that one of the boater's wives must have plopped in there for me, haha! They had big bags and bags of candy left over because halfway through the parade route, the police stopped us from handing the candy out from the moving vehicles and said we could only throw candy if we were walking alongside the trucks or boats. We decided that next year we would have some of the older children of the members be all ready to do that. The "first time" you do anything is when you see the flaws that need to be worked out!
Now we are getting ready for the combination Graduation party and 4th of July bash next Saturday.
hugs,
Annie

Beautiful pictures hon! Please thank your husband for posting those as I really enjoyed looking at them. Those bass boats are pretty. Sounds like you had a wonderful time!! I am happy for you! Isn't it fun to watch the kids w/big smiles on their faces picking up all the candy?
Sounds like you're going to be busier than a one-armed paperhanger this next weekend. That's great! Enjoy yourself.
Hugs, Juni

Thanks Juni!
The boats are quite impressive up close! The colors and the blends of colors are quite striking and unique! At first the one with mostly red on it was my favorite...but then the family with the beatiful metallic green showed up (towed by a matching green van LOL) and it was by far the prettiest! Asit turned out, the green one happened to be the one I was chosen to ride in.
Yeah....the smiles on the "candy-catchin' kids" were terrific! It was my first time at a parade since I was a kid myself....and this wasn't done back then.
We have quite a big surprise planned for my grandson's Graduation party.....we're all hoping that it "comes together" with no hitches on Saturday afternoon. I'll explain more after the party is over, haha! I hope to get some pics of THAT day too!
hugs,
Annie
