    Bonnie_ Clyde,

I have set through a few local needs talks where I knew the details of the JC and the sin involved. They made me incredibly upset and uncomfortable. I wish someone would have told me that my children could not grow up and make the common mistakes that all teenagers make without public ridicule. I would heve run the other direction.

To publicize the mistakes of teenagers is cruel and unusual punishment. They have a hard enough time just growing up and finding their place in life.

Now they just announce that So-and-so is "no longer one of Jehovah's Witnesses". You don't know if they are DFd or DAd. It ramps up the level of paranoia, and it basically gives no quarter to someone who has conscientious objections to WTS policies. I fully anticipate that the literature will soon make no distinction between disfellowshipping and disassociation - when you knowingly engage in conduct that is contrary to WTS beliefs, you will be regarded as having disassociated yourself by your actions. This will effectively do away with judicial committees - and JWs will just need to make a report to the local elders and have the action corroborated by another person or a couple of elders going on a fishing expedition, to make the disassociation a fait accomplit.

I see things going this way as well. I've heard of instances where people have been announced at the meetings that they are no longer JW's and it was news to them. I think more and more of this will happen without JC's.

I remember when they announced disfellowshippings in other local congregations too.

*** w63 7/1 p. 412 What Disfellowshiping Means ***Neither can he feel that by moving to another congregation he will be freed from the sanctions placed upon him. The local congregation will be notified and public announcement made of his disfellowshiping for the protection of the congregation there.

They don't publicly announce it if you move to another congo. Instead, the elders privately tell any individual seen associating with you. That's probably worse than the public announcement, imo.
