I bet this is yet another scam, similar to the constructed deficits in the accounts that "happen" every time. What they are trying to do is make the people think that the end is so close, causing them to think if they hold on "just a little longer", and they will have it made. Meanwhile, they are instructed to pester the "field" ever more tenaciously, not taking no for an answer, since the end is "so close".

The fact is, they have the next year's Grand Boasting Session dates and venues already planned, if not the exact outlines of every discourse. They won't let the flock know because they want them thinking Armageddon is coming "very soon". I am about as worried now as I was about the June 12 Armageddon scare.

I also think they are playing cruel mind games. Sometimes I feel quite sorry for the dubs - bumped into a few over the weekend and I was very struck by the innnocent wide eyed look they have.

Is there a comet approaching? Perhaps they are spending the money on triangular shaped purple sheets and cyanide?

They are probably waiting on the final total attendance figures to decide whether to merge some of the conventions (which of course means more traveeling for a lot of JW's)

Thanks for the replies and link to the audio. I just thought it strange, the usual announcements regarding future DCs were along the lines of, "Would you like to know about next year's DC? You will be pleased to know the GB has planned 3-day DC for the yyyy-yyyy service year." Between the lawsuit settlements and pending France tax decision, I think the WTS is waiting to see if the smaller DC venues are more profitable. It would not surprise me if they changed up the current annual 1-day SAD, 3-day DC, 2-day Ass'y; maybe gatherings one weekend every quarter or something along those lines. Something else "exciting" for the R&F in addition to the public/private WT.

I think this is more a financial issue than a prophetic one. The WTS has been hopping around from site to site the last few years trying to find a place big enough in their budget to rent. They try to plan out a few years but with decreasing donations, they are finding it hard to assure their money people that God will provide.

I seem to remember this quote: " And now brothers, If it be Jehovah's will, Jehovah willing", we will meet again next year!
