    Welcome

According to witness dogma you mark a person who commits a sin not deserving of disfellowshipping but close to it. It's supposed to be a "personal" marking in which a talk is given and the individual publisher decides if they will "mark" the person that the talk relates to or not.

Maybe to make things easier for the congregation, they can mark undesirables with:

    • A chalk X or
    • Hyssop dipped in lamb's blood or
    • A purple triangle?

I would SOOOO love to give that comment at a meeting. When's the next time they talk about "marking" in the weekly study?

Welcome Tallman - I'm sure you'll like it here too

Marking? I think it's childish, pathetic and pointless....having said that, so is the Watchtower Org

It creates a lot of gossip and makes people feel self important and self righteous.

If a group of primary school kids did that to another kid they'd be up infront of the Head for bullying.

    Trust me I'm a governor

    Welcome to the board.

The early christians did some sort of disciplinary action.

At least unlike disfellowshipping the individual doesn't lose all communication with his family and close friends, which I feel is unscriptural.

Marking seems a little closer to early christian practice. Perhaps I'm wrong - I'm sure many will tell me so.

Anyway, I don't like marking or disfellowshipping.

My ex-wife realized about a year after she divorced my in 1989 that everyone at the KH had marked my kids. Since they had been exposed to apostate information from me the brothers weren't taking any chances with their kids getting contaminated by associating with mine. When she confronted the elders about the social isolation they just blew her off. They were the ones who supported her during the divorce process, then she was dumped by everyone after the divorce was final. It all worked in my favor in the end. My kids were forced to look for friends among neighborhood and school kids and my ex-wife made friends with worldly people at her work. Within 5 years they had quit going to the meetings and had no guilt feelings at all. Thanks everyone at the KH, for helping me get them out of the WT cult!
