    Welcome.

Marking is a practice outlined in the New Testament. In fact the way JWs mark is close to how disfellowshipping should be. The scriptures about shunning basically say not to socialise or at least be careful around people that we know are practicers of sin. Marking is close to this, whereas disfellowshipping goes well beyond what is outlined.

A WIFE SHOWING SUBMISSION BY ATTENTING MEETINGS AND SHARING IN FIELD MINISTRY WITH HER HUSBAND

Oh, you have GOT TO BE KIDDING ME. Good thing I wasn't there. I probably would have stood up and left. You know what if a wife, a grown woman, doesn't want to go to a freaking meeting or out in service, it is her perogative. It isn't like she is cheating or something. Give me a break.

    OH AND WELCOME!!!

Be easy on you - why would we be anything other than easy on you??? The road away from the organization is a very personal one and the only place you'll really find pain on it comes from them!

It's easy to do research and find out the truth about the Truth . . . personally, I think as long as you have your eyes open and KNOW what's really going on - if you choose to remain there for whatever your reasons are, then fine. I feel for those who are in and are clueless to the fact that they're being duped. Some people need that structure in their lives (like those who thrive in the military). If it works for you, then good.

For most of us, however, once our eyes were opened, we were no longer able to stomach being associated with the organization. At least that's how I feel. Doesn't make leaving any easier - those are still our families, friends and lives back there - but having the truth makes it worth it.

Can someone give some other reasons for marking please? I have a non jw friend lurking and we were trying to figure out the line between marking and outright dfing is. Some seem to be only marked for the same things others are df'd for. Love that jw unity.

First welcome Tallman glad you are here with us.

I saw red when I read the three points that they were marking people for. As has already been stated it is a form of self-righteousness. They always admonish not to gossip, but these tactics all lead to gossip.

Moshe glad it worked out so well for your ex and your kids. When I was DF'd the samething happened to my kids. No one wanted to be around them. You know those apostate cooties were bound to come into contact with those righteous believing children. Worked out well for me all three of my kids now view the JW's as a cult. Thank goodness they decided to not only shun me, but my girls.

Just have to say this concerning so called spiritual weakness as the cause of missed meetings:

Contrary to what JW's say, no one becomes spiritually weak. They start to feel that the khall is not a spiritual paradise anymore and therefore see no need to keep going. The meetings cease to be refreshing, if they ever really were, and so they actually create holes in people by telling people that it's their fault for feeling as they do. The people keep drinking the "life saving water" and are constantly hungry for what they really need, something the meetings never provide. People starve drinking their water. The meetings make a person addicted to them by telling them they must go for refreshment. Only what happens is that the drug wears off gradually and is useless to people after a while. No spiritual weakness involved. The meetings themselves are weak. Spiritually weak is the same bullying tactic word used by school children when they say someone is stupid.

Tallman...Welcome!!! One of the things that really opened my eyes as I was drifting away was to read the Bible with an open mind...trying not to put the WTS slant on it while reading. That was eye-opening for me!!! There were so many inconsistencies, I can't even remember them all. The more I read the more I realized just how dishonest they really were. Then I really started doing my own research and came to the conclusion that they didn't have the true religion and never did. 1914, 607, 144,000, dfing, etc...the list really started piling up. The U.N. scandal and the child abuse scandals were what stopped me in my tracks long enough to think for myself and do some soul-searching.

White Dove...I agree with you wholeheartedly!!! For a place that brags on offering refreshment, they sure know how to make a person feel terrible!!!
