It is UnChristian and yet another example of the judgementalism that keeps Dubs so far from Christ.

THIS EVIDENTLY WAS A LOCAL NEED, THE TALK DISCUSSED 3 ISSUES: GOSSIPING ABOUT SOMEONE'S PERSONAL ISSUES, A WIFE SHOWING SUBMISSION BY ATTENTING MEETINGS AND SHARING IN FIELD MINISTRY WITH HER HUSBAND AND THE LAST ONE WAS ASSOCIATING WITH A DISFELLOWSHIPPED CHILD AND NOT AGREEING WITH THE DECISION THE ELDERS MADE ABOUT THE CHILD'S DISFELLOWSHIPING. SO IAM SITTING THERE THINKING "I SUPPOSE THE MARKED INDIVIUALS KNOW WHO THEY ARE SINCE WE CAN'T TELL THEM THEY ARE MARKED". I SAT THERE WITH SUCH A EERIE FEELING DURING THE ENTIRE TALK. THANKS FOR YOU GUYS INSIGHTFUL COMMENTS. IAM LOVING IT HERE ALREADY

Hi Tallman, welcome to the discussion! Each of these points is so hypocritical:

    GOSSIPING ABOUT SOMEONE'S PERSONAL ISSUES,

I've heard elders and pioneers gossip a lot, in fact they're often the worst offenders. The only time they object is when THEY are the object of the gossip. That is when they get up in front of the congregation and condemn such behavior.

A WIFE SHOWING SUBMISSION BY ATTENTING MEETINGS AND SHARING IN FIELD MINISTRY WITH HER HUSBAND

So -- always blane the woman, right? Typical JW-think. In all 4 congregations I was in since I was baptized as a teen, the elders typically never worked door-to-door with their wives, they preferred making 'shepherding calls' with other elders or working with other brothers - the few times they did go out.

AND THE LAST ONE WAS ASSOCIATING WITH A DISFELLOWSHIPPED CHILD AND NOT AGREEING WITH THE DECISION THE ELDERS MADE ABOUT THE CHILD'S DISFELLOWSHIPING.

Luring teenage and pre-teen kids into a "lifelong" decision to get baptized and then kicking them out later? This is one of the most reprehensible practices of JW's. They will tell you you're old enough to get baptized, some as young as age 7! Can you imagine someone getting DF'd before they're even a teenager? It could happen, and imagine the social/psychological consequences to the child. And yet the JW's claim they don't practice infant baptism. OK, why not be REALLY true to the Scriptures and wait till they're adults? (They wouldn't because that would hurt their chances of trapping someoine inside their controlling religion while they're still young.)

BTW - Tallman, please don't use ALL CAPS all the time. It is like shouting. Again, welcome to the forum.

It sounds a bit judgemental to me. I've never been a JW but if I was in an organisation of any kind which did that, I'd be outta there pretty quick!

What do you mean by an eerie feeling - do you feel it's not right to mark others either? What's your own views on marking?

ps welcome and enjoy your stay! Is this your first time on any forums? A helpful hint for you - don't type in caps, it's considered as 'shouting' and its also hard on the eyes when you're reading

    Hi Tallman

Welcome to the forum. Marking serves to put the fear of god into the rest of the congregation so that they remian in good standing a well liked! It's really pathetic. Please tell us a bit more about yourself. What brings you to the JWD forum?

I understand your point about all caps.....guess what? I was shouting(smile)....lol. I also failed to properly introduce my self: Iam married with kids, a former elder,(long story, I will get to it one day). My wife and I were both raised in the truth by beleiving mothers, our dads supported our mom's faith. I started having doubts after being unfairly deleted as an elder 5 years ago. Started doing research and came across several websites, therefore bringing even more doubts. My wife is not as strong as she was before, was a regular pioneer, not one anymore. I have showed her some stuff from the net, but she don't want to hear it. So here Iam on here just searching for answers and still going to meetings and in the field service, trying to make my final decision, please be easy on me folks.

    Hi Tallman, Welcome to JWD!

You have a lot in common with some of the posters here..that were also elders, or who are still elders, with believing wives...and they are trying to slowly get their wives out...so you are NOT alone at all...you are among friends!

My understanding of 'marking' was the elders are the ones who do the marking.
