    Hi all !

I am behind in composing my "counter-witness" pamphlets that I have been wanting to design, but I've been compiling info still. Problem is that days like today, when I talked to witnesses in a plaza, I did not have anything to give but my words. Funny, I gave my Business card to them(they were spanish), and told them to have someone call on me, so I can do a study with them. So I'm also trying to get a couple in my door to try and set free ( or should I say kick up a storm?) The spanish couple ended with "we'll have someone call so they can help you" (after I told them the GB was not the FDS), and I ended with "I'll help them"... And we parted.

So I need some advice here. If it was you, what would be your TOP 5 eye opening issues in a composition of things to give to a witness. I have in mind what I want to start with, but I know you all have better insight and direction than I, and I respect your suggestions greatly.

I'm gonna limit my info to an 8.5 x 11 sheet, 2 sided. Even though we could write a books worth right?

    THANKS !!!

i tried that. the problem, like you said, is the vast amount of information. i've decided to write a book, and send it to people free of charge. trying to finish it and figure out how to pay for it. i may just make a few copies, send it to some folks, let them copy it, send it, and so on. the problem is, every witness will be hit by things differently. i was talking to a friend that said his dad thought of the u.n. affiliation as a good thing. i said, WHAT!?!?!!? for others, this bit of information got them out of the org. it's hard to say what universal thing will hit them. they won't believe anything anyway. cognitive dissodance my friend.

What you say is true. I just want to get the info out there anyway. Like the saying goes, maybe I'll plant a seed here and there, after all some of you opened your eyes after being exposed to outside info or some real truths to the matter. You never know. I handed the UN stuff to a JW at my work, and NEVER heard 1 word from him about it, and I didn't persue it. I'm sure like you said, he just disregarded it as apostate efforts and lies. It's a shame.

My goal is to hit them on saturday mornings where they flourish most. Not every week, but often.

Ask them if they would be willing to talk about the "truth" with you without counting time in "field service."

    mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, donuts.

    Why not......SCRIPTURES????

Or is that something too radical?

I think it takes a personal experience in that person's life that jolts them into discovering for themselves if its the truth and nothing you could say would do it.

One thing that used to get to me before I had my personal experience was this:

    1. Why do people (scholars) spend years studying the Bible and never come up with the Society's teachings?

When I was researching to quit, I was first looking for factual items only. I was blown away by the tax returns of the WBTS. The UN letter is also good. This is hard evidence. Let us know how things turn out.

There is no set of facts that work best because you are dealing with a heterogeneous group of people who are in the religion for all kinds of reasons. Besides, some active JWs already know about the criticisms levelled against the Watchtower Society.

The clues regarding what to say to JWs to get them thinking is pretty much the clues JWs go looking for before they preach: Look for something emotionally charged but with which you can make some solid claims. JWs observe whether the householder has children, for example, and framesthe message in terms of the householder's children. If a JW has children, pitch the message from the perspective of JW parents' concern for their children's wellbeing. There's a good opening for talking about the Watchtower's approach to child molestation.

i think there are no top 5. every witness thinks different.

    my eyeopeners were:

    1. human laws and pharisee-like behaviour
    2. huge discrepance to science
    3. human calculations for 1914 are flawed BIG time, no biblical basis - just jumping around the bible and use some worldy info but not others, even from the same source
    4. blood doctrine in every aspect...
    5. the huge gap between "guided by the holy ghost" and reality. the stupid excuse "imperfect men" when things gone wrong and "faith strengthening support by god" if things went good.
    6. all the prophecies not coming true (except 1914... which is the only one you cant disprove since its invisible. how are the chances that THIS one is correct if all provably were false? this and the fact that the 1914 prophecy WASNT a prophecy but was invented many years after 1914 when it became clear that the old prophecies about 1914 were wrong)

plus many others im too lazy to mention here :-)

The generation change shocked me even though I had been out for a very long time.
