Jeff- Mr. Flipper here. I've been self employed for almost 25 years in commercial janitorial and when I was a witness tried to actually take time to help others get their own business started. I was never worried about competition because I lived in a area where there was plenty of work. But what I did see was many of the"friends" in the organization if they wanted my services would try to get me to work for dirt cheap or for nothing at all, just trade meals or something for the services. I would see other j-dubs do this to other self employed witneeses, whether the person was a contractor in construction, roofer, drywall, painter. My ex-wife (still a witness) was great at playing the inadequate and unable to do anything for herself type person, and connivingly weasel people over to the house to get their services for nothing. She would play the damsel in distress so good, the brother would feel guilty about charging her, and then since she was a good cook, would make a meal for their trouble. It used to tick me off, and I'd be embarrassed by it, so I'd slip them some money while the ex wife wasn't looking. but this kind of thing goes on all the time in that organization. I call it a "who can I use " syndrome that's imbedded in the cult thinking I believe

Well all the elders and sisters in my congregation where hypocrites. I was raised in truth and baptized young, I was a full time pioneer when from 14 - 17. But when I was 16 and my sister and father decided to leave and both got DF. I was labeled a outcast big time. I was still a faithful servant and all my meeting privalages got taken away I even remember one time at a service meeting this sister who was there who happened to be the wife of an elder. Went and grew a penis and straight took over the arrangement even with me present and me a baptized publisher, full time pioneer, who was giving talks to on the bible since I was 8. There a fun crowd.

As far as the elder with the cleaning business who used his kids for small stuff (emptying bags, etc.), it doesn't surprise me but I suppose that's no big deal. But, having the kid man the office while he's gone - that's another thing. It is one thing if they use their own kids to do the 'slave' labor. The problem is when the nervy you-know-whats go looking for adults in the congregation to work for slave wages. This is very common and, sadly, they take advantage of ignorant and desperate ones there. It is hard not to despise them when you hear what they try to get away with.

I have seen how they try to overstep their boundaries and will try to take what is not theirs if you don't stop them. I long ago learned not to have any dealings.

So far, Gumby and Open Mind. I'm sure there others I'm not yet aware of. They label themselves as hypocrites, but they are the finest because they care so much about their families that they give up much of their life to appear to be JW's in order not to lose the ones they love.

I wanted to do that, too, but lacked the strength. Here's to the finest kind of "hypocrites."

He was able to 'witness wipe' several offices after 5 o'clock and before the 7 o'clock meeting times. He was paid well, by people who expected him to pay other workers, when all he did was employ child-labor for free [or a pittance of some sort]. No one could compete for his accounts who were Jw's - due the territorial nature of the Jw thinking, No one from outside the Jw's could compete because they all used legitimate business practices to get the job done.

I knew of several JW contracting companies who underbid legit contractors by illegally not paying required unemployment insurance and workers comp and taxes.ALL OF them I 'ratted out' to authorities when I was wrongfully DFed.

No, you are correct - I intended to talk about the bad kind. But then the good kind was mentioned too. So it gets broader in spectrum in time - that is fine. I actually prefer the good apostate hypocrites in real life. LOL Jeff
