    Nvrgnbk,

As usual, wonderfully written, and inspirational.

Your honest no-nonense, and often humorous approach, is very refreshing and appreciated by lurkers and non-lurkers alike!

The journey to freedom may be long and difficult for many, but the destination called reality is worth the struggle.

Thanks for helping us along the way.

That means alot to me, Oracle.

    Rough day today.

Had my first chat with a therapist.

She thought the worst part of being a Jehovah's Witness was not celebrating birthdays and Christmas.

That's all she really knew about it.

After I gave her the 411 for about a half hour, she started to kinda pull her hair out , so to speak, and said "it's way too early in the morning for this".

I said... "Welcome to my life!"

    LOL!

    Edited to add:

but the destination called reality is worth the struggle.

    I really like that!

    LOL @ Nvr's Therapist!!

It's pretty bad when an ex-JW makes their therapist need a therapist.

I'd love to hear more about it sometime Nvr.

    See ya.

    Sylvia

She said she had a childhood friend that was a JW.

She has since left the religion.

She said all she knew about her friend that was an issue while growing up was the birthday and Christmas thing.

She was under the impression that her friend left the religion for that reason.

I tried to hold back my laughter.

I said the non-celebration of holidays barely scratches the surface of the dysfuncionality of the JWs.

I explained to her that, like most high-control groups(cults), the JWs were very concerned with good PR and that what is taught and what is presented to the public are two very different things.

For example, the fate of non-Witnesses in Armageddon.

I told her the PR answer is that no one knows and that God is the final judge of who will live and who will die at Armageddon.

What's really taught is that only dedicated and baptized Witnesses in good standing and active in the ministry will be spared.

    She was like....

    LOL!

    LOL!

That's the look I always get when I explain the REAL teachnings of JW's.

I have an advantage in that practically everyone in my community knows me.

They will often come and ask me about the JW's and why they don't see me in service anymore.

Needless to say, I give them a fine "witness."!!!

There's more than one way to skin a cat.

Hoping all goes well with your therapy.

    Thanks, Sylvia.

Though I'm not sure she's the right one for me.
