After doing research on Russell and Smith in the Mason organization...here's what I came up with...
Joseph Smith aparently was part of the Mason group...(I'm still researching on this)...
"On March 15, 1842, Smith was initiated as an Entered Apprentice Mason at the Nauvoo Lodge. The next day, he was raised to the degree of Master Mason; (Wikipedia)
Wikipedia (2007) Joseph Smith, Jr. 1842 to 1844. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joseph_Smith%2C_Jr.
In the Wikipedia, I did not find anything that said that Russell was connected to the Mason groups...yet.

Who cares about all the masonic junk, all I remember is that he was a pedophile?
Is this true?

I've heard that this is what his wife had claimed. Did it really happen? Or was it her just saying this because she was angry with him with the breakup of their "business" arranged marriage?

I’ve had this discussion so many times before here. Almost feel disheartened to go over it again lol
ok FF here is a couple of very good books for you. One written by an outsider Secret Societies: From the Ancient and Arcane to the Modern and Clandestine and one by an insider who himself is a 32rd degree mason Freemasons For Dummies. By the way, to my understanding once you achieve 3rd degree of Master mason you can do just about any other appendant bodies degree and you don’t necessarily have to do it in order. 33rd degree is reserved as a honorary degree for outstanding achievements within freemasonry such as self-sacrificing deeds for the sake of the craft e.g. traveling to remote state when their deacon is sick to make sure meeting goes smoothly etc.
Freemasons are really what you see outside, family loving and peaceful people. It is just a hysteria created by nosy public that find it “unacceptable” not to know few inner secret workings of their meetings (that are for the most part freely available on well researched sites anyway) I wonder if any of us have “secrets” we would rather not to discuss …. Yeah sure we are transparent and democratic in that regard, year right.
One thing that no one ever has mentioned here (to my knowledge at least) is that Hitler persecuted and killed many of them with estimated 80,000 and 200,000 killed take that you JW and others who would make us believe they are the only ones who suffered. In fact go to this page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freemasonry_under_totalitarian_regimes and you will be amazed what kinds of things different regimes have charged with over the years, and that is just a fraction of the whole story.
A bit of an advice to everyone here if you are going to use Internet for any kind of research and not sure where to go for information at least go to Wikipedia . It is not always accurate but many people for keep an eye on topic often ensure as impartial information as possible, and often there are references to books and other sites you can go to for in-depth drilling.

Hello there. If you haven't seen it already. Here's my new youtube video that covers this topic: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MN5xLY4MSK4 A picture speaks a thousand words. There are also a few books that cover this fact. You can find the titles and links to the free downloads at the end of the video, in the credits.

Every once in awhile someone starts a thread here about the book "The Watchtower and the Masons".
Usually those threads are quickly deleted by an adminstrator.

She was trying to "prove" to me that the JW's was a satanic religion. I'm just amused that a Mormon sent this to me.
I've never for the life of me understood this.
Although I'm not a Mason and neither was my father, one of my grandfathers was, all four great grandfathers were and so on
What's true for me is probably true for many here as well. Are all our families satanic just because Masonry was once as common as grass?

Hey Ninja
First of all thanks for your response!
the crown and cross doesn't PROVE he was a freemason...BUT it is a templar sign.....(masonic)...a clue???...
I think you should look up what the sign primarily stands for: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cross_and_Crown (with an interesting comment about the alledged templar connection)
the pyramid is another connection to freemasons although it doesn't necessarily mean beardie was one ....being buried under one and all
Apply Ockham's Razor: All things being equal, the simplest solution is to be preferred in most cases. Example: When I go to school and see I don't have my lunch with me I might say I was abducted by aliens on the way, subjected to medical experimentation, and that they took my lunch for further examination and brainwashed me afterwards so I don't remember anything. On the other hand, perhaps I just left my lunch at home.. which one is more plausible?
We know for sure Russell was a Great Pyramid freak and even published all sorts of fancy schemes.. On the other hand, we don't have clear (I would say any) evidence that he was connected with the masons. The simplest solution is that the pyramid was chosen as a sign for the "Plan of Salvation", Russells master-work.. which is sad in itself, of course :)
why would a christian have a flying sun disc symbol on his books???....hmmmm........the golden age and millennial dawn is a term similar to the "golden dawn" used by freemasons....type it into google images and see for yourself.....as for the cars having the winged disc....chrysler (winged sun)...and Bentley...(winged sun)...also chevrolet...(winged square)....could it show us how pervasive freemasonry is?......
Again, this symbol was hugely popular around that time. What is the simplest conclusion? An enormous masonic conspiracy (leading to world domination, of course) or just a trend? Ockham's Razor! Regarding the name "Golden Age" - it's a concept from Greek/Roman mythology that has been with us for ages. You might want to read Hesiod and Ovid or look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_age - I'm sure you're not implying they were masons as well?
Best Regards,

Dragonlady76 asked:

Russell's detractors made this claim on the basis of the allegations of inappropriate behaviour made during Russell's divorce trial with Maria. We know the name of the young girl in question: Rose Ball. (Note to self: great name for a porn star.) There were misunderstandings about Rose's age when she was living in the Russell household. Geneological research by our own Leolaia offers compelling proof that Rose was a bit older than she told people she was, and so she was not a minor child, thus Russell was not a pedophile.
Perhaps Rose Ball was attractive, cute or otherwise a pleasure to be around. She had a long association with the Bethel family, eventually marrying E. C. Henniges and moving to Australia to "serve where the need was greater" in Australia. After a while in Oz, E.C. and Rose broke with Russell's theology (or "went apostate" as they now say) and started their own group, which continues to publish today.
