Every once in awhile someone starts a thread here about the book "The Watchtower and the Masons".
Usually those threads are quickly deleted by an adminstrator.

I dont think anyone here is doing that.
If the mods did delete this thread...that would make me wonder what it is they have to hide about masons and JW's?.... if we are not allowed to talk about whether or not there is a connection or not, then that makes me wonder why this subject is considered so taboo. The more people try to quiet something, the more it will be talked about. -

Russell's detractors made this claim on the basis of the allegations of inappropriate behaviour made during Russell's divorce trial with Maria. We know the name of the young girl in question: Rose Ball. (Note to self: great name for a porn star.) There were misunderstandings about Rose's age when she was living in the Russell household. Geneological research by our own Leolaia offers compelling proof that Rose was a bit older than she told people she was, and so she was not a minor child, thus Russell was not a pedophile.

I googled Russell and read the wifes account, from what I found out he was an adulterer, funny how that info is somehow kept secret....

FreedomFrog....An interesting thing happens when you compare Joseph Smith with Charles Russell. Smith's Masonic status was a well-known fact at the time. People talked about it, there were editorials in the newspapers about it. People remarked about how Smith's innovations in the Mormon Church were based on a Masonic model. Whereas with Russell, not a peep about his supposed Masonic status. And he was quite a celebrity in his day and the press that was hostile to him (such as the Brooklyn Eagle) wanted to print anything negative about him. And yet nothing was ever mentioned about his supposed status with the Masons. It was either a very well kept secret that Joseph Smith failed big time to conceal, or no one thought at the time that Russell had this membership. I haven't seen anything written while he was still alive (and disregarding Russell's "Ich Ein Mason" statement, which actually suggests that he wasn't a Mason) that intimated that he was a Mason.
Deus Mauzzim has a very cogent point about the source of information.....poke around at that site and you will get a very clear picture on the extremist ideology of the site's creator. The person who repeatedly posts "Russell was a Mason" stuff on JWD (Ianone and his many other nicks) has shown himself many times to be an anti-Semite (remember that "Freemasonry" is a Jewish organization to many who press the Masonic issue). Please don't misunderstand....I am not saying that anyone necessarily is antisemitic for raising this issue or believing that Russell was a Mason, but that those who have raised the issue most vocally have an ideological basis for doing so. Because of this agenda, there is a less critical approach of the evidence, such that anything would be used to prove the point -- even if it is entirely erroneous or without merit. The fact that the Masonic center was built near the cemetary many decades AFTER Russell died is an obvious fact that is overlooked. Ianone would claim that CT Russell was related to William Huntington Russell, founder of Skull and Bones (a fraternity allegedly connected to the Masons), on the basis of nothing else than similarity of the last name. Never did he show that the two were actually related or knew each other. He also showed his antisemitic colors when Barbara Anderson wrote what she knew about Fred Franz and his Jewish friend whom he consulted with on Hebrew language points. Ianone ran with this piece of information and spun it as proving that the Watchtower is a Jewish-led organization, with this Jew feeding Franz information from the cabal secretly behind the organization.
VM44....That person is Ianone...I've given a full description of his behavior on this board in earlier posts, in which he repeatedly violated forum guidelines.

I didn't mean to "open up a can of worms" here. If search was working, I would have been able to see that it was covered over and over. Since I'm not on every day of the week, I don't know what has been chatted about and what hasn't.
I don't know anything about the masons other than what my JW friend told me years ago (and she was a very paranoid person).
I don't believe or disbelieve Russell = Freemason since I don't know anything about it.
I was intrigued that a "die hard" Mormon was willing to show me the link I posted since it mentioned her religion.
