It just struck me as odd when I saw the Philippine sign.

I also saw it as odd. Have posters noticed this "trend" away from The Watchtower in other countries - or are the Phillipinos more "independent"-minded.

I have noted that when referencing a WT publication in a footnote, they now say "published by Jehovah's Witnesses" rather than "published by the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of New York."

*** w01 2/1 p. 16 Are You Living Up to Your Dedication? ***See the 1978YearbookofJehovah’sWitnesses, pages 156-8, 201-18, published by the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of New York, Inc.

*** w01 4/15 p. 20 The Church Fathers—Advocates of Bible Truth? ***An in-depth discussion of the Trinity doctrine can be found in the brochure ShouldYouBelieveintheTrinity?,published by Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Could it all be a reaction to negative publicity here on the internet? Also, did not the UN press release on the UN site use the term Watchtower, with no reference at all to Jehovah's Witnesses? We know there is no significant difference, no matter how many ways they label it - but legally, could they be putting distance between the two for some reason?

You might be more successful sueing a business [Watchtower Bible and Tract Society], or more likely to try, than sueing a religion. Just a thought.

Watson, You wrote: "Probably not a big thing, but I did notice that when you write a check to the society for a contribution, they want you to make it payable to the Watch Tower. 2 words."

Question: This summer's conventions are sponsored by the Christian Congregations of Jehovah's Witnesses instead of by the Watch Tower Society . . . are they still asking checks to be written to Watch Tower this summer? Or are they asking for checks to be written to Jehovah's Witnesses?

I not sure on this but it seems that with all the lawsuits lately against the Watchtower, what they seem to be doing is creating alternate org such as Christian Congreation of Jw so that the Watchtower can transfer money in the form of a chartiable contribution from one entity to the other to hide how much funds they really have. By doing this they wont have to pay out as much to all the victims.

It sounds like a DA by the WT from JW...any problems don't sue WTS sue the JW, we are no longer associated with the WT.
It all has to do with money, and I smell a rotten fish here.

When Kentucky Fried Chicken became KFC a few years ago, I was intrigued by the name change, but hardly suprised that the product remained just as greasy and sickening as ever. Same with the emerging emphasis of the name "Jehovah's Witnesses" over "the Watchtower Society": Same old greasy and sickening product.

The WTS is a top-down high control cult. The minions do whatever the Watchtower leadership tells them to do. However, when defending themselves in court, the WTS tells the judge that they are not the leaders of the JWs, instead they are a business structure used by JWs. Basically they are telling the judges that the WTS is a bottom-up organization... which we all know is a blatant lie. I have never heard of the WTS complying with a command from an average JW... it is always the JW who complies with a command from the WTS.

The name changes on the buildings is nothing more than a rouse designed to support the bottom-up claims being made in court.
