Welcome! I never did join the Witnesses, but I still managed to fit in here.

I can relate to the cruelty of children. Their excuse to bully me was the same as yours. I was odd. I'd just come from a tropical country. I talked funny, stood to address the teachers as Ma'am and Sir, and I did not know their Canadian games.

No matter how long ago it was, those experiences shape us. I hope it has made me more sensitive and compassionate to people who are a little off the norm.

I remember my parents going round in the service, me as a small child stood on peoples doorsteps with my mum and dad, often when it was the middle of winter.

B_Deserter, Hello, I think at the time I felt I was one, I believed in part, but at the same time I sort of questioned it.

jgnat, Hello, children can be incredibly cruel. But then I think its their parents who influence that in someway. If only they were more accepting. Yes you are right, even if the experiences are unpleasant at the time they make you what you are :).
