The worst hypocrites can be the elders. They SAY to never miss a meeting or service but they look for every excuse to not practice whatever they preach.

We have a few old elders in our congregation and they are diehards, not like the younger generation of dubs. If God was really behind their religion, he would have brought the end by now, in order to save the zealous ones of the past.

Journeyon,
Don't talk her up, PLEASE
Just kidding, I was wondering were she's been just the other day. Maybe she's lurking? Not participating?
Sorry min, I kinda hijacked your thread for a minute!

The old style JWs sound like people under military discipline did they at least have any more fraternal love and solidarity? It doesn't seem to be that way.
It's better if they are not as strict, that means less psychological pressure and less mental problems for the dubs it is so cumbersome and detrimental having to observe a myriad details about your behaviour.

Save My Soul
I go to a white hall and the elders are very flexible. Long vacations, no one is ever read off. Big social scene.
I remember in the black KH there was ZERO tolerance. They were like the cops in a college town. Just recently an elder said, "We are soooo close to the end because they are selling military vechicles to the public." "When the great trib. starts, they will use all jeeps and hummers to attacks god's people."
"WHAT u talkin bout willis?"
I said, "Do u really believe that?" He paused and said, "YES!!".
hummmm. I know of girls in my hall that get private reproff for giving a bj to an elder's son. While others in my old hall that were dF for playing the California Lottery.

Actually I think they did. For one thing, they were actually allowed to have social gatherings. You have to realize that they were excited about being in a so-called worldwide brotherhood. Most of them were converts to the JW religion and were probably much more happy as a JW, than today's 2nd, 3rd, 4th generation JW who are JW mainly because their family is, and so they trudge along, obediently but abject, doing what is required of them. They don't know why, they just know that they have been told this is the best way of life, and that pursuing anything else will only lead to ruin and misery.

In my day, we didn't shun our own flesh and blood...we stoned them with bricks and logs with rusty nails. It was good clean fun and we LIKED it. We LOVED it!
LOL MJ You're not a fan of Dana Carvey's SNL character "Grumpy Old Man" are you?
