more happens than even reaches the national news. I know of a case that was reported on locally , TV, and paper. The fact he was a jws never got mentioned. but he was and active too and with a previous record.
What we find out about is just the tip of the iceberg.
It would mean throwing away decades of work, time, money, education, etc. They are either too proud or insecure to admit they are wrong and wasted their lives.
That pretty much says what I think, too. 30, 50 even 70+ years of WT work all down the drain with nothing to show for it. The PO elder who cleaned carpets for a living was a big shot at the KH and gave talks to thousands at JW Conventions is now a nobody. - this new reality would make him the laughing stock of his community.
PIONEER SPIT- Yes, the witnesses do like to defend their faith and I have talked with more than one of them on this molestation issue, and they get testy.
VELMAZBATES- I agree with you that the jw's won't admit to these things happening because it would result in loss of jw friends and family. So they choose to not be motivated by the facts like you said. However, telling them to be in the org. without donating time, energy, and money is like telling them not to eat, in their view. They won't do that, because they are told to serve god "whole-souled" and give it their full devotion. Partial committment is not allowed to them. Also, as for convincing them with new scriptures that their takes are wrong, don't count on that either. They are told by the organization which scriptures to use and how to interpret them in their faith. I hope you are right, but don't think it would work.
JAM- Great thought you have of putting up posters of convicted jw child molesters, if you could get pictures of them. Yeah, any public place post it, post office, stores, wherever.
DRAGONLADY76- I agree with you in keeping the channels of communication open with these people and keep exposing the molestation fiasco to them. I do hope like you say that many witnesses, reach their breaking point with this negative stuuf happening.
MINIMUS- You are correct, witnesses are trained to have their thinking done for them by the org. Yes it really has to hit a person between the eyes before the scales fall and they see the whole scam that is the organization. As you said, some people aren't the sharpest tools in the shed and I feel out of fear they don't want to admit their organization could do this. How did the old saying go? Ignorance is Bliss?
MCSEMIKE- Yes, the witnesses say one thing and do another. They don't reason that their organization has gone dirty or lowdown. I think as you said only getting with them one on one or individually do you have an outside shot at reasoning with a few of them.
DEBORAH'S SONG - Deborah the reason the brotherhood versus antichrist mentality is there is because the organization blindly promotes it in it's members. The witnesses are led to falsely believe that the governing body is infallible, would never sin, always has the witnesses best interests at heart, and is always representing God the way He should be represented. It is called MIND CONTROL, it's what cults do, so it's members will never admit it's leaders are wrong for anything they do or allow. Think about it _

I don't know about the rest of you but they still come to my house 2-3 times a year. That is my opportunity to ask them the dreaded questions and as of now enlighten them about JW molesters. Why use up any energy going to them when they will most certainly come to us? Even if you have requested to be a "do not call" the elders wil still come by.
Most importantly we should be telling our non JW friends and workmates so they to can start asking questions. It is always easier to go around a brick wall then to keep on smashing into it. Just think what a pain in the butt it will be for them to have to try explain it at almost every door they knock on. A few may even go on the net in private to see what is causing people to be asking these questions.
One thing that I have said to JWs of my acquaintance is along the lines of this:
"Knowing that child molestors are almost impossible to reform, even when they supposedly Repent™ and promise never to offend again, I would rather die a thousand times at Jehovah's hand than volunteer my kids as guinea pigs in that kind of experiment. I do not ever want to have to look a child in the eyes and say I'm so sorry, we thought he was repentant. That's just not good enough for me. If it's good enough for you or your kids, that's on your conscience, but it won't be on mine."
That has actually stopped certain JWs from harassing me about returning to the meetings. Whether it gets them to think about the risks to their own kids or grandchildren, I have no idea, but at least they have a very clear understanding about my position on the matter. And because it is my conscience that motivates this decision, they don't dare challenge it.
WEDNESDAY- It has always annoyed me that when priests are busted in other churches, that the news articles always says the name of the religion involved, but with the witness molestations it doesn't get as much run, or say in print the name Jehovah's Witnesses. Maybe the tide is turning and more will be written to publicize it.
MOSHE- I agree with you. It would be their worst nightmare to admit their lives were wasted.
BRENT R- That is great you did that to witnesses at your door. I did that to a P.O. and his wife, talking for 30 minutes reading them the ap news release. They were unimpressed. But I planted a seed in his dubby wife though.
All we can do is keep informing and making people aware of these atrocius crimes. In time it might break through
Here is a thought you all. Next time you are on the street and see a witness with the watchtower and awake, why not carry some extra ap news articles of the child molestation settlements of the witnesses and give it to them ? Take their magazines to humor them, then say , "I have something I'd like you to read too. It's important." Then see what happens. You might be suprised. I did this a month ago to an older witness standing in front of our post office and actually talked 5 minutes or so with him about it. You never know , we might just make some of them think.
Also, when they come to your door in service, take that as an opportunity to make them think about what their religion is doing about child molestation and inform them. The reason I feel we should do this at every opportunity is because they want to bury this fast, don't want their members to know. Information control. But if we can yank some of that control back from their church and us control what they hear, if even one or two people listen, it will have been worth it. I made a p.o. and his wife listen for 30 minutes at my door one day. So any thoughts you folks have? Are we able to keep this thing alive, and in the forefront of the jw's minds? What say ye? It is important to get the news out to the public so when they do knock on doors the doors can ask them, 'didn't I read something about a pedophile problem in the jw's?' Of course the jw will deny it but if enough doors keep asking maybe the jw will think 'what if?'
