May you have peace!
If you told me in the kitchen my child don't eat that soup that is on the table. To obey you I would do all I can to avoid that soop even if I were very hungry. I would not think how to eat the soup in another way around.
If my Lord told me not to eat soup, or blood, I would not eat soup... or blood. And to "abstain" from blood meant that: to not eat blood. However, to "abstain" from blood did NOT mean to withhold something that can give life from another.
There are some VERY important things you are missing here:
1. The Law said not to eat/drink blood; yet, Christ told his disciples TO drink his blood. This was a stumbling block for the Jews, but NOT for those who had FAITH in him. They did not know until later that a "substitute" was to be provided. This is the SAME thing that occurred with Abraham: JAH told him the sacrifice Isaac. Now, although the Law had not yet been written ON STONE, it was indeed written on hearts, from Abel on. So, certainly Abraham knew the "law" against killing one's own son. Yet... he did not hesitate to do what he was told. It was not until AFTER he DEMONSTRATED his faith... by proceeding to carry out the direction... that a "substitute" was provided.
2. The Law also said that only Aaron and his sons (who were from the priestly tribe of Levi) were to eat the showbread, for "it is something holy for him from JAH's offerings made by fire... as a regulation to time indefinite." YET, David (who was from the non-priestly tribe of Judah) and his men were given and ATE the showbread. How could this be? Because they had not had relations with women? No. Because... mercy triumps over judgment. They were hungry and needed bread to survive. The only bread available was the showvbread. The priest Ahimelech surpassed the law by having mercy on the hungry... and gave them bread to eat.
For millenia, self-righteous "Jews" (even those claiming to be "christian") have tried to please God by adhereing to the Law, even fasting pursuant to it. Is that truly what God WANTS? Let's see:
"Is this not the "fast" that I choose? To loosen the fetters of wickedness, to release the bands of the yoke bar, and to send away the crushed ones free, and that you people should tear in two every yoke bar? Is it not the dividing out of your bread to the hungry one, and that you should bring the afflicted, homeless people into your house? That, in case you should see someone naked, you must cover him, and that you should not hide yourself from your own flesh?" Isaiah 58:6, 7
Ahimelech knew the TRUE Law of JAH... and so, although the Law forbade giving showbread to anyone but Aaron's house, he gave to David.
It is the same way with blood: while the Law may prohibit eating it, so that doing so may be a transgression against the Law, giving it to another out of LOVE... surpasses the Old Law and fulfills the New Law. For there is NO law... against the law... of love.
Paul may have said it much better:
"Therefore, as WE have such a hope, WE are using GREAT FREEDOM OF SPEECH [so that WE are not fearful in what we say] and NOT doing as when Moses would put a veil upon his face, that the sons of Israel might NOT gaze intently at the end of that which was to be done away with [i.e., the OLD Law]. But THEIR mental powers were DULLED. For to this present day the SAME veil remains UNLIFTED at the reading of the OLD covenant, because... IT IS DONE AWAY WITH... BY MEANS OF CHRIST. In fact, DOWN TILL TODAY... WHENEVER MOSES IS READ, A VEIL LIES UPON THEIR HEARTS. BUT WHEN THERE IS A TURNING TO THE LORD, THE VEIL IS TAKEN AWAY. Now, the Lord IS THE SPIRIT and where the Spirit of the Lord is THERE IS FREEDOM. 2 Corinthians 3:12-18
And what Paul said is corroborated by what Christ himself is recorded to have said:
"You will know the Truth... and the TRUTH... shall set you free. Therefore, IF THE SON sets you free, you will actually BE free."
I have been set free, dear OBVES... by the Son, my Lord, JAHESHUA MISCHAJAH, the Holy One of Israel and Chosen One of the Most Holy One of Israel, JAH of Armies. I have not only been set free from the Old Law... but free to partake of the NEW Law... which Law grants me the FREEDOM... to LOVE... without fear... of anything... including the Old Law.
If, then, I give my life, my blood... out of LOVE... so that another may LIVE... I have surpassed the Old Law... and fulfilled the New.
Serving God, through Christ, is NOT the "burden" that religion wants you to believe, dear OBVES. It is NOT adherance to a bunch of "thou shalt nots." It is the FREEDOM... to LOVE... that includes the COMMAND to love... EVEN YOUR ENEMIES. And there is no GREATER love... than to give one's life... on behalf of one's friends, which "friends"... include our "enemies"... as Christ himself demonstrated.
I have learned, however, that although Christ offers us ALL freedom... MOST of us want to continue... as slaves: slaves of the Old Law... slaves of our own hurt and anger... slaves of our own ignorance... slaves of our own hearts. I have chosen to be HIS slave... and accept the FREEDOM that comes along with being so. Including the freedom to give MY life... on behalf of another... if I so wish to do so.
I bid you peace... and ears to hear.
A slave of Christ, in gratitude for the FREEDOM he has given ME,
