Being a Witness is no longer special. Sure, some feel like they're God's gift but the majority are just there, taking up space. They are malcontents.
I guess there will always be those that just complain and find fault. But the truth is, the lack of love deteriorates the person's conviction. They realize that they've been fed bullsh*t and have nowhere to go. So they get older, angrier and just wait to die. At least before they thought they might make it thru the great tribulation.

Red Dot, are you saying that they are expending usable oxygen for nothing?
One can understand that elders feel discouraged when they see that more and more congregation members care little about attending all meetings or going preaching on a regular basis and just turn up when they feel for and have nothing else to do. In a way their social status is turning like priests in the catholic church who used to be looked up to and are considered with indeffrence now. Thats how organizations grow weary and stagnate.
Aligot, great point.
Honesty, thankfully the air is FREE!
It wouldn't be surprising because in 1995 they lost their main reason for being JWs the dream (adolescent fantasy we would say) of a soon to be immortality and paradise earth were indefinitely postponed.
Since the WTS has nothing else worthwhile to offer there would be many dissatisfied members.
You're right! The draw was SOON to be living forever, within OUR generation. JWs were lied to and further insulted by the mumbo jumbo reasoning presented in the WT.
I think there's a lot of them. They realize that they are not being treated so good. They might've been elders and ministerial servants or pioneers or Bethelites in the past. They just know that things aren't what they used to be like in the good old days. They feel something lacking. They just know it! They now grumble about their lot in life within the congregation and feel as if nobody REALLY cares about them.
Do you agree with this assessment???
I agree, maybe I am jaded but outside of your mate and maybe children nobody cares about anybody. Everybody puts on their best face to get something from the other.
It's possibel that some people dont come to this realization until they are in their 40's or latter.
But thats life as I see it.
The good old days are when we were ingnorant, (innocent) to the realities of life.
Everyone does something for something. Most people try to get more back than they put in.
But in the end the amount of heat you get from the fire equalls the amount of wood you put on it.

Like I said since Freddie (Franzkruger) withdrew his influence, there has been the blandest regurgitation of the past. I guess he took his Millerite books with him. Not that I am truly complaining, he had no qualms about using "demon" books for research and direction. But with the use of them he represented the only link to the HeyDay of the movement (thank you Mouw). In general as time marches on it is getting harder and harder to preach/sell a religious trend from the 19 Century.
