Great letter Besty and Sweet Pea!

    Pearls before swine.

Congratulations on being free from the cult. Hopefully I'll get to meet you guys one day: I used to be in Dover Congo at the southern end of the county.

Samantha and Paul, the way they treated you was appalling! And your brother? Incomprehensible.

Your letter was perfect. Congratulations, commisserations, and welcome to your real life. Make it count!

Samantha Paul and the boys, what a great family you four are, had the pleasure of meeting you guys a little while back. You've gone through one of the most painful things, i'm not surprised how emotionally drained you are. In some ways you cant believe something like that can be happening to you, its frightening to realise its real!

I think your letter was awesome, really told it well, of course it will be ignored by those most reprehensible, but its here and preserved so we can all see your pain but also courage in the face of complete nonsense, maybe some who know you from that life will find you again through the means of this place, like you and I did. I've lost touch with whats been going on recently, sorry for that, but know that i'm so impressed with the way you guys have handled this in the face of overwhelming odds.

I wish you a happy and peaceful life away from that nightmare

    Love to you all

    Great letter but:

    1) I wouldn't have bothered writing it because they won't take heed of your well defined points and

    2) I would never attend a JC. The JWs are out of my life forever and I would never even give them the thought that they had power over me - which a JC does.

Ian - I didn't want to attend and give them that feeling of power - that's the real reason I didn't go - I also wanted to test them out and see how unloving and what depths of unkindness they would go to to achieve their goal. The doctors note was part of that plan.

If I had my time over I wouldn't have sent it BUT I did. I knew they would probably disfellowship us and I wanted them to have something that might possibly make just one of those hard, uncaring men think, that would appeal to the real person inside not the cult member. I don't regret it. If just ONE person - those elders, someone on JWD, an old friend who stumbles across our story - is helped, then it won't have been for nothing.

Great letter, We all know they probably wont take a blind bit of notice, but sometimes just a shred of doubt will start in their mind and who knows in the years to come?

Regardless of that, YOU needed to say it. I really feel for you, I know the pain of losing almost everyone you've ever known and loved. It's incomprehensible to people who have not been involved with the witnesses. And although we were all familiar with the shunning, it's like a knife from members of your own family.

It takes time, but you will rebuild your life, friendships based on people that love you just for you, imagine that! I'm sure you already feel the freedom and fresh air, but it just gets better.

My thoughts are with you both.

The only thing I could add is thank you on behalf of your two boys. They will never know the fear of going out in service, and praying that no one from their school answers the door, missing the fun of holidays, sports, art, education, and conditional love from their JW family. They also will thank you one day. You now will have a real family, not a plastic one that is told how to live and think by a publishing company.

Welcome to freedom of thought. It is the best.

Ian. I don't know if anyone has mentioned this but a lot of your posts seem to be very negative and aggressive for no reason.

People can and should do what is right for them and things like this are often more use to the person writing them as closure than to those receiving them, yes, but they do have an effect. Being polite and civil and taking the higher ground DOES make people think and does help to convince people that what they may have been told to expect is not neccessarily true.

The shock was that my only brother had made a special 900 mile round trip on the Friday to give evidence to the JC. He has always been a hardliner, currently a PO, but this was below the belt on so many levels...our house is less than a mile from the KH and he never knocked our door to see how we were or even to see his only two nephews...shame on him. Also his wife had given written evidence against us. Nice to have family like that. On the Friday I had also seen our friends car outside the KH so I'm satisfied at knowing who actually pulled the trigger.

That was our experience too ... friends and family seem to be the most involved or at least willing to listen to the words of some old guy in a suit over their flesh and blood. I think some see it as a chance to advance in the congregation by appearing even more 'spiritual'.

It's great seeing your kids grow up normal and joining in with things that we never did. Ours are really looking forward to halloween right now.

In fact you are aware that we are leaving the country to start a new life abroad in the coming weeks.

Hey, that's what we did (UK -> Canada). Where are you guys headed for?

The inquisition has ended for your family. Congratulations. Hopefully your posted letter will assist others who are being persecuted by the Gestapo from Brooklyn. Funny ... these men preach the coming persecution, while the entire 20th century they have been persecuting true Christians. These bastards from Brooklyn resurrected the Spanish Inquisition, and if they could legally kill, they would. Enjoy your lives!
