My wife uses a similar ice cream maker but freezes the container in our chest freezer which is around -10 (f). She never had any success with the fridge freezer either.
OK back to fluff for a change...has anyone had success making icecream?

We had this crank machine with used dry ice. I've never tasted better stuff!
We had one of these when I was a kid! My dad made the best ice cream

FF....actually you could make some good Low sugar concoctions with the ice cream maker. Especially with fresh fruit and yogurt...you might want to rethink it.

We bring ours to my wife's (non JW) family reunion each year in the mountains. We pick the small wild blackberries and then make vanilla ice cream using the actual beans and mix in the blackberries. Yuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuum!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The lower temp seemed to be the trick. Can you adjust the temp lower on your freezer?
Edited to add: She also told me that she mixes it longer then the instructions say to to get more air whipped into it.

Brent, I'll look into that. I have a refigerator freezer thats about 2 years old, I should be able to adjust the temp... thanks for the hint.

Hmmm, I love frozen yogurt. Being a kitchen gadget junkie, this is the perfect excuse to go out and buy one. It would give me better control over the ingredients.

The older ice and rock salt unit still gave my wife a more consistant product then the automated (Hamilton Beach) ones does.

Ummm, it isn't the always the ingredients that need better control ....
I'm a kitchen gadget collector too. I found Amazon's Outlet and Friday Sale and OMG! :I ordered the ice cream maker, the deep fryer, the snow cone maker and the milk shake machine then found out I had diabetes. My blood sugar was over 300 for a month! I've got it under control now but the ice cream maker keeps calling to me...
*sigh*
