However, I'm a "country girl" too, and I've had to... break a horse by myself.
The most I've ever done was to put some small cracks in one, and that was a Shetland Pony.

I like chivalry. I hope that the two subjects are separate. I don't fix my mom's dinner plate, because I know she can. . .I still haven't figured out why women fix up plates for men at parties and such. What is that all about? I figure it is the womens version of chivalry. Or we just don't want you all messing up the buffet table. . .
I don't think we need to be hitting anyone-man or woman. I dont get the thing about 'hitting a woman'. I teach my son not to HIT, period. I taught the same to my other daughter and son. It's unacceptable. And these days, it will get you arrested without any chit chat about your 'reasons'.
Self defense is another subject. When possible, I suggest leaving, reporting, whatever. In this state, they arrest first, and usually it is the man who is arrested first-even if he hasn't hit.
I am with Renee about this for sure: In matters of money and jobs, treat women equally. I am afraid all those years of injustice on the pay scale is going to result in backlash-like electing Hillary. Its another subject, I know. But in our family, we agree about NOTHING politically except that we will vote for anyone before we would vote for her. My son has turned into some kind of misogynist (worse than his dad), but my dd and I are both to some degree more liberal. But we are all afraid she will get voted in for the novelty of it all and to 'make things fair', which is a reason I heard someone give the other day for voting for her. As if THAT woman being president would fix all the injustice toward women and clean the slate. I don't THINK so!
Shelly (sorry for getting OT a bit)

I would never hit a woman, period, exclamation point ! I was taught by my dad, like I taught my son to respect all women , hold doors open for them , and open car doors for them if possible on dates. I am not the type to go looking for a fight with guys either, however if someone were to aggressively try to hurt Mrs. Flipper, I think he'd be sorry. When we were first dating, we were dancing in this club to the blues, and some young guy about 23 or so, half my age was swinging his arms wildly dancing with his lady friend, not watching and knocked Mrs. Flipper in the face , making her stumble. While his arm was still there , I pushed it away. The guy got pissed and wanted to come at me but his lady and Mrs. Flipper got in front of him and stopped him . His lady took him elsewhere and left. I won't put up with disrespect , especially from guys. Won't ever throw a first punch, but I'd throw the last one if somebody backed me to the wall
