My youngest son Joshua had autistic tendencies and speech delay, he's four. He can't start a conversation and he often does not respond when someone tries to talk to him. But he's been repeating more words and he can read quite a few words too. Tonight after I got the pizza out of the oven, Joshua called out to his sister "Hey Jocelyn, the pizza is ready!" I wrote down what he said and I can't wait to tell his teacher.

I don't really understand what autism is . I don't know any people who have it in the family. I understand it brings alot of adversity to peoples lives.

    What is it exactly?

    In part:

Autism is a brain development disorder characterized by impairments in social interaction and communication, and restricted and repetitive behavior, all exhibited before a child is three years old. These characteristics distinguish autism from milder autism spectrum disorders (ASD).
