What a disgrace!
It reminds of of the case in the US where the family were coming back from an assembly and decided to preach to Goths. It ended in the murder of three out of four of the family members in a most shocking and atrocious manner and the little surviving boy having been shot in the head.
Sickening that this cult is so foolish!

Rosalee, since you are standing up for the JW woman who let her child out of eyesight to talk to strangers, I wonder,
would you allow your children 7 and under, to walk that far away from you, before sunrise, and speak to a strange man?
And would you also be so engrossed with trying to make a convert, or a potential placement opportunity,
that you would totally forget that your child was beyond your eye-sight?

That JW mother was GROSSLY negligent in her duty to make sure her child was properly supervised while under her care.
We all put our children on buses, we walk them to school, we take them to day care.
That is VASTLY different than letting your child walk away unsupervised in the dark to talk to a stranger.

No one is suggesting that. Sarcasm aside. You're the one who created the imaginary scenario of other adults with the child. You were wrong. Why not admit it...and while you are at it, admit that it is wrong to put a child in this position in the first place.

What the woman did was regretable but it wasn't child abuse. You are judging her based on this one occurance told to you by someone else. As for taking your kids out in the ministry, again, wow, not a single ex jw ever did that either?

Rosalee, no disrespect intended, but you posted from what you "thought," not based on facts, but what you think people are thinking they think. I "endorsed" a "verbal scene"..........I liked MKR's "idea", but did not "endorse" it. I think you're missing the point. There is a big difference between going door to door with a child right at your side and letting the child approach a stranger in the dark at a great distance. As a parent, both of my kids were always in sight when they were young and vulnerable. And no, I never lost track of them even once. I think when I became a parent I learned the meaning of the word worry.
I think if you go back and read the whole thread, you'll see why some of us are being more blunt than usual.

I always read an entire thread before commenting.
I guess you are a better parent than I am, I lost track of my daughter in a mall once. It's happened to other parents I've spoken with as well. Kids do that sometimes they slip away before you are aware of it no matter how attentive you try to be. Maybe that is what happened to this woman. Everything being said here is based on one experience as told by a third party.
