Yes, the memorial video was a definite squirmer.

The WT leadership deserves no respect, however I didn't really like the mocking nature of the memorial video as it disrespected individual people rather than constructively try and wake people up. And as 5th Genereation stated - there are a lot of well meaning and nice people still trapped in the JW religion/sect/cult or however you want to classify it.

I am glad she took the memorial video down. This one is better.

I believe the person who wrote the out of the cocoon book and did these two videos is probably a little unstable herself, and has suffered some psychological damage from her ordeal with the JWs.

That's why I cut her a bit of slack.

    Peace on earth,

I'm curious to know how many people here read Brenda's book, "Out of the Cocoon"?

What is your opinion of it?

Exactly, I kinda feel sorry for her! Ya know time is the only thing we truely possess, and to waste it with this garbage is sad!

It had its moments. The 666 thing added nothing. Could have been a little tighter, not so long and focused more, but it was a fun view. W.once

the JW woman was EXTREMELY crazy looking and her acting was so bad it HAD to have been that way on purpose.

B_deserter, believe it or not but there is a sister in the local congregation who DOES act like that. She will get into arguments with homeowners and tell them off. When I first saw this video, I thought of her immediately. Those I know who also have seen this have mentioned her name.

Cudos to Brenda. Hope to see more.

Not sure (since I react before all facts are in ma'am) but I will have to say that I don't agree with Brenda on everything she does but I do appreciate the way she does it. She has a grasp on satire like no one else:

IMHO you gotta give credit where credit is due.

    P. S. Gotta add that the whole Memorial thing to me was repugnant but you have to hit many spots before you hit a low.

There was a thread a few weeks back on this video, so I will re-post my comments here:

I'm not sure this video is entirely fair... every witness I know would
readily admit that the cross was once used as a symbol. It's in the
PROCLAIMERS book for goodness sake. When encountered at the door with
this objection, no JW well-read in their own literature would claim it
was an "apostate lie" that the cross was used.

The shunning thing... Well, I guess some witnesses might be dense enough to deny that disfellowshiping = shunning, but when pressed, I think they would admit they are effectively the same, and agree that "not talking" to a DF is Org policy, not a personal choice. The video makes some very valid points, and even a few funny ones, but overall, I find the video slightly bitter and uninformed, with an unpleasant aftertaste of the pedantic and preachy. I LIKE parody. I think the absurdity of Witness thought and behavior is a rich well of mostly untapped humor, and I very much enjoy a well done and witty expose of such absurdity and the underlying nasty ego required to be loyal witness... However, for parody to work, it has to be insightful. I guess living 25 years disconnected from the witnesses has left the maker of this video with only a tenuous grasp of the nuances of witness thought, and what is left is a caricature shell of lingering anger and injustice. I hope making this video made her feel better, becuase I sure don't. [ink]

Inkling, I think what Brenda is showing here, is that the j.w.'s will say "that's a lie" to someone at the door. They won't want to admit the shunning rule to a potential new convert.

This is true, because my own sister-in-law, when I confronted her about this years ago and asked her if the j.w.'s shun people, she told me right out..."Oh, no. we don't do that". She knew they did, and lied right to my face.
