Women start to take over control because they know a lot of "men" can't handle the responsibility that comes with control. If men would show that they could handle responsibility, they would have more control.

I'm not a psychologist or relationship expert -- what follows is my assessment only. All normal disclaimers apply.
Some people (men or women) want to be "in control" because they themselves have deep insecurity, and so try to make up for it by appearing to be in control, -- or else they have selected a partner whom they now do not trust (for reasons real or imagined). So in place of trust, they try to exert control over the other one's actions.
Neither scenario seems healthy for either partner.
