nimzo,
I have a problem with someone claiming to be Christian and flying a different banner than that of Christ. When Peter spoke to Cornelius (who was NOT a Jewish proselyte) he spoke less than 200 Greek words to Cornelius about Jesus and Cornelius and all his household were baptized immediately with Holy Spirit even as Peter and the 120 had been. He did not have to dedicate himself to Jehovah. There was no mention of Jehovah at all. He did not have to attend even one meeting before baptism. He didn't have to preach to a single person before being baptized, in fact there is no Scripture indicating an unbaptized person would ever be qualified to preach the Good News. Cornelius didn't have to make a public avowing of his allegiance to an organization. (Acts 10, 11)
If it was just Cornelius that would be one thing. But the Philippian jailer and Lydia were likewise unencumbered by any of the JW prerequisites for baptism. (Acts 16) As was the Ethiopian eunuch. As were the 3,000 plus baptized in a single day. (Acts 2)
Christ was sufficient knowledge for baptism. Why do JWs insist on so MANY unscriptural requirements prior to baptism? Why the organizational barriers between Christ and his disciples?
You follow men who have led you wrongly. They teach a doctrine that shuts up the kingdom of heavens before men. They don't go in and they prevent those on their way in from entering.
