When elders can't even explain Bible chronology's proof that JWs are the true religion fulfilling prophecies, why wiould anyone else believe any of it?

They don't care for the most part.

I was in a book study where chronology was being discussed and i've never seen so many puzzled and indifferent faces at one time......and that was during the CO's visit where the entire congregation was present. As someone already stated, they might regergitate the answer right of of the book when questions of the sort are asked. Between the flip flops and "new light", they just don't care to keep up anymore, and no matter what "the slave" throws at them, they'll accept it without question.

Probably they are playing the "faith" card right now, rather than the chronology card......so when something goes wrong in the world, its addtional proof that we are living the end times....cause Jesus said so.

I think if you went back in time to around 1970 JWs cared alot more about chronology since so many of the Society's (really F. Franz's) self-made timed puzzle pieces were coming together so beautifully and matched the doomsaying brought on by the worldly press and pop culture due to the tumultious changes of the 1960's.

This began to change as 1975 came and went without even being lucky enough to be of any significance what so ever (at least, by sheer coincidence, 1914 had marked the start of a world war). As 1975 receeded ever further into non-history the enthusiasm of JWs for chronology began to wane slowly.

With the death of F. Franz and the significance of his beloved 1914 Generation being changed in 1995 the chronology issue was quietly deflated. Without F. Franz's "creative" but now time expired interpretations to give urgency to the JW community and with no replacement imaginative Bible "scholar" to step up to replace F. Franz the "End" becomes a more abstract event undefined and basically limitless.

Liberty I agree with that 100%. Very succinctly put.

Chronology stopped being important once they changed their policy on the generation thing. I mean, their was a selfish side to learning it. Figuring out how many years till Armageddon....Not because their was a love of numbers or something..ha!!

The religion has its roots in Millenialism and most Witnesses and even Russellite loved their chronology.

I'm surprised that today's Bible Students still believe their BS.(is that short for Bible Students?)

It is still in the books of course and when they come across it they repeat what the book says. But do they really care or believe it deep down? No , not the ones I know. They know really that it just does not stack up to reason or common sense. So they put it to the back of their mind .

When something happens in the news they say that Matt 24 is being fulfilled, otherwise they jog along, marking time with an attitude of endurance. The older ones look to a resurrection now, not survival....
