Nosferatu,
Yes, that deck looks very useful and pretty too!
This is the Nak Dragon: http://www.vintagecassette.com/Nakamichi/Dragon I picked it up fully serviced for $1250, which is not bad for the Dragon. Problem is that pre-recorded tapes do not sound so good on the Dragon. It is really designed for Dragon only recordings. The C& however is a different story. http://www.vintagecassette.com/Nakamichi/CR-7
I have a few systems set up. The one I am using at the moment is Kinergetics c800 preamp, Kingergetics 200 amp, Linn Sondek with a Hadcock arm for the turntable, Nak C7, and the beautiful Technics SL1300 CD player which I picked up for $55.00 online. The speakers I built myself with a few crossover modifications from a design by the brilliant Danish speaker designer Troels Gravasen, http://www.troelsgravesen.dk/W15.htm. If you are looking for a pair of monitors under $1000.00 for parts, they cannot be beaten imo. I stand them next to my massive Vandersteen's with 12" bass units and ask listeners which speakers are playing - 100% of them point to the mini-monitors. They are double skinned. 3/4" MDF internally and covered in a 1/2 solid oak skin. They weigh about 30lbs each and measure 11" x 12" x 8"!
