Grassyknoll: I did not say that the article specifically stated it was 50/50. You said that “… the article said homosexuality may or may not be genetic.”

What that means is that there is just as likely a chance that it IS genetic as it is likely that it is NOT, per the WTBS stance stated in that article referenced by you. According to that statement, both options are EQUALLY viable. That is unless your paraphrase was incorrect.

However, suppression is clearly stated as the correct course of action, as stated in the article you just quoted:

“But they fight that unnatural, Satan-inspired desire—and they do not give in to it.”

By that very sentence they are stating a different opinion than what you read in the Young People Ask article in regards to the possibility of genetic motivators for homosexual tendencies.

So is this change in opinion, from the 83 Watchtower to the recent Young People Ask article you read a demonstration of “new light,” or is it instead a subtle policy change made my men in an effort to stay within the modest, never too far to either extreme, boundaries of social acceptance?

I think we can all agree that the two statements made are conflicting. As with other issues and practices that become increasingly hard to sustain within the organization, due to changes on society as a whole. This seems to be something that can be re-evaluated as the FS sees fit.

As far as what the bible has to say about it... who cares? It also says a woman sould be unclean becasue of menastration. It says a lot of crazy things no one follows until they're trying to prove their point.

gopher: I think i stated the dictionary definition as well... Also, I don't think the accurate viewpoint has been established by science. Scientific research is all over the place. WTS publication have always stated practicing homosexuality is a sin... because the bible says it's a sin. Can it be unlearned? I don't think there is scientific research that says it can't be unlearned. I've certainly read personal statements from people who support the argument that it CAN be unlearned. Even now, in 2007. About the orchestra statement... that’s another topic.

you know I personally feel its a moot point in trying to prove homosexuality aint that bad from a biblical standpoint when it was. christianity is a religion based on gender polarity and when you have that usually homosexuality conplicates that...

so its better to kill those fags then to think goddammit! Satan is obviously in them anyways!

But from the orignal poster, yeah i hated that it was always teh worst sin; I mean okay its the sin you can't relate to, but the worst? Like adultery is way worst in my mind that homosexuality but.. you know... whatevs.
