Watchtower website

It sounds like your dad is either one of Jehovah's Witlesses or is studying to become one. True, the official site looks like the truth. That is because they have one specious argument to back up another, and it is such an intricate web of lies that it sounds like the truth. One of those lies is that those other web sites are all lies.

One cannot possibly form a valid, objective opinion about anything if all the sources you are going to use are controlled by the same organization. This applies equally with politics. If there is a diversity of sources, a good politician (that is, one that is honest) has a good chance. But, if all the media are owned by special interests, the same good candidate would be shot down by those interests that would suffer if they got in. This is equally true with the Watchtower Society.

The real truth is that all those apostate web sites are written up by people that have been there. They have tested the product and been through it, and have found it Not Acceptable. The Bible itself has been tampered with, as those apostates will attest to (compare the King James version, which was written by a group bent on making the Bible readily available, with the New World Translation which was written by a cult bent on supporting its own doctrines). The apostates also expose the true origins of the cult, the reversals of doctrine, and some of the dirty secrets about the UN and pedophile scandals. They also expose the fallacies of living the Watchtower way of life.

And, of course, the Watchtower Society doesn't want you to know that. Would a drug company with a diabetes management drug (and a huge profit on that drug) want a cure for diabetes to be exposed? Or, what about GM wanting a candidate that would allow 10,000 competitors to flood the market with better cars and put GM out of business? Those people don't want you to know the alternatives (and most people get flyers in the mail about these issues). The Watchtower Society is no different. They don't want you to know about their history, or that 1975 was actually predicted as the end of this system, or that they support pedophiles and silence the victims, or that Christmas is supposed to be celebrated (Luke 2:10-14), or that nowhere in the Bible is there scriptures where Jesus ever went door to door or reported field circus activity, or that 6 year olds are supposed to get baptized, or a whole lot of other things.

Keep reading this forum. Most of the people here were once Jehovah's Witlesses and know what went on in that organization. Pay attention to personal experiences--the diversity therein shoots holes in the "unity" myth. Feel free to read other literature against the Watchtower Society, such as Crisis of Conscience. Feel free to browse the other apostate web sites. And, I challenge you to find just one pro-JW Web site that was written by a JW, which has nothing but praise for the organization, and was not written by the Watchtower Society itself. You are not going to find such.

    WELCOME cooler to JWD!

I am also new here. Just about 3 weeks.

For the past two years since I left the org, I did not dare to visit xjw sites. My inner voice shouted
"apostates!" whenever I come across xjw sites and I will quickly leave.

It was only 3 weeks ago that I desperately needed help and advice that I forced myself to post at xjw forum.
I have no one else to turn to. Non believers will not understand my worry. I know what the JW will say. In
fact it is because of their teaching that I was so worried. I was in a dilemma. I have no one else to turn to other than xjws.

Since then, I stayed. For barely 3 weeks, I have found out so much about the wt that I have not known before.

I am from a Asian country where jw is being banned. Only a few hundred witnesses in a population of 3 mil.
We met only in small groups of about 10 at witnesses home. So I know very little about their shunning practices.
What a shock when I learned from the forums here about how wives shunning husbands, parents shunning children etc...
All the while I tot that family members just won't discuss spiritual things with DF'ed members. I didn't know
they were shunned for everything. I tot that their physical relationships can still be normal. Family
outings will still be together. It just does not seem right to me when I find out otherwise. The WT is breaking up families!

Just only yesterday, I read a post that even babies are being shunned!!!What the heck !

They only emphasized on "remove the wicked one", "treat him like tax collector" but they forgot what Paul also said:

"keep this one marked, stop associating with him, that he may become ashamed. 15 And yet do not be consider
ing him as an enemy, but continue admonishing him as a brother.” -2 Thess 3:14

The WT only quotes scriptures that support their teachings but ignore those that doesn't.

Cooler, stay around here and I am sure u will find out many things that the WTS doesn't want u to know...

My dad was looking and the Official WatchTower website and he said it has such a truthfull and genine look about it

Ppppphhh, the WT website looks like it was designed by Stevie Wonder.

The Seventh Day Adventists' site looks alot cleaner, and more professional. Therefore they must be more truthful than the witnesses.

    Classic JW circular reasoning:

JW - We have the truth.

Study - How do you know?

JW - Because Jesus picked us as his sole channel in 1919.

Study - How do you know?

JW - It was obvious because we were the only religion that was doing xxxxxx and not doing xxxxx.

Study - I heard a lot of your beliefs had changed since 1919. I'm going to check this out.

JW - We have a lot of literature and a website that will help you.

Study - No I mean really check it out.

JW - You don't need to go beyond the things written.

    Study - Why not?

JW - Because we have the truth.

    Repeat until tired and confused.

    WELCOME TO THE FORUM COOLER.

Welcome cooler. Great 1st post! It's crazy. The first time I emailed a doctrine 'problem' to my parents, they replied 'who have you been talking to? you must have got that from the internet!' I couldn't believe it, 'you know me--I've never had an original thought in my pointy little head!!!'

Look forward to hearing more from you!

When people don't want to see reality, they just don't see it. I had an example this evening. We were back from the meeting where my wife had given reply to a n° 3 assignment and we gave a lift back home to a young sister. Because of the nuisance that stikes in public transports are causing at the moment, she said that we are longing for the new order. I then slipped in the conversation that the definition of the last generation would be changed next february and I added that within the last 13 years the WTS will have had 3 different definitions of this last generation, the latest one being totally different from the 2 previous ones. What do you think this young sister's reply was ? Jehovah's organization is refining its position...
