I was flat broke, working at a terrible job and pioneering. And I drove a very little car. So who always drove in field service? Me, with six people (pre-seatbelts) crammed into a very small two door four-seater. Of course, gas was twenty-nine cents a gallon, but if you made next to nothing, a full tank took a LOT of money. As to the other question, I think I converted three people. Don't really remember after all this time.

good experiences....fun times..... or not......brings up more memories...

When I was pioneering the first time from 86-91, I was driving various hoopties...79 Chevy Citation was one I remembered...... In this case it was a 79-82 Caprice I think...and the the other 3 or 4 pioneer sisters didnt much like it, but it was "my turn" to drive (since I never gave them money, I just insisted I would take my turn). and since it was always the same 4 or 5 pioneers, this worked out good for me...only drove in the afternoon once every couple weeks...

I remember one winter we were working in town in the projects (recently torn down and being rebuilt). It had been snowing, but it had been sleeting before that..so snow on top of ice...hmmmm...Two married pioneer sisters, who hated my guts, got out of my car to go to a return visit....when they came back, the one sister started coming down this little hill ...maybe 3 or 4 feet high.....oh so gingerly..... NOT ...she fell on her a$$ and then proceeded to slide on her a$$ underneath my car!

Once we knew she was OK and not physically hurt (but horribly embarassed ), I laughed my a$$ off so damn hard....the others were trying not to laugh...this sister deserved it, she was (and is still) so nasty to people..I dont even know why she bothers pioneering....she is in her mid 40s...given over 20 years to the pioneering.. no wonder she is miserable. Probably why they came after me with acusations of lying about my time about a year later....lol (Note...I didnt start lying about my time until the beginning of this year...I figured I had some freebies coming to me...LOL)

Yeah I agree Snakes I regular pioneered 3 years and it seemed like pioneers I knew had a cavalier attitude thinking their gas money was owed to them by others. I pioneered, had 3 young children at the time, but nobody would give me a dollar either for gas. So the rule I made up then, if they were gonna be stingy with helping on gas money, if I was driving I would insist on taking a longer coffee break, like say 30 minutes or so . That would drive the super time conscious sisters nuts and they would start sweating bullets as I finished my Western Bacon Cheeseburger at Carl's Jr. or something they'd say , " Brother Flipper we need to get back out in the field. " And I'd throw some random scripture out like, " Well, even Jesus told his disciples they needed to pause and refresh themselves. " Eventually just the cool people worked in service with me, the ones who wanted to take 20 to 30 minute breaks. Not 5 minutes then it's , " Get up and go, Oh my god! we have to get our time in! " like they were going to die for waiting 5 more minutes! Jeez, glad I'm out of that. So that's some of my pioneering stories with stick in the mud partners ! Peace out, Mr. Flipper

Back in the mid to late 70s I drove jeep wagoneer 4 door 4wd more than once I took to farmers feilds or

the the off road during selling. When I would hear complaints I would reply It's ok it's got 4wd once while

fording a stream, water started entering the floor boards at the bottom of the door. These were great

times. Somewhere during this time period I also drove a mopar 440. Was counciled once or twice

because it seemed that 90 mph was the appropiat speed in my mind.

Also my answer to most driving situations was Accelerate Hard. The mopar 440 provided the road preformance that I felt was needed to deliver the message of hope. More than once folks needed a wipe upon exiting the vehicle.

I recall i the 70's gas being 0.30 cents a gallon and we thought that was interstate robbery.
