JK- That is great news man ! Glad to hear it. It gives me hope for my JW parents. You are right , it takes time, but just think of the seeds you might have planted in her to maybe question the societies propriety in the way they handle child abuse ? ! I hope more good things come of it with her buddy! Good luck ! Peace out, Mr. Flipper

I got a reply from my father, Translation:

If it is true or not - I do not care. There is no alternative, if this is true or not. This does not stop the caravan for a single second and this makes all you apostates including your spokesman Franz so angry.

I answered with a quote from the Watchtower Aug 15th, 2002:

"Our country: . . . May she always be right; but our country, right or wrong."—Stephen Decatur, U.S. naval officer, 1779-1820.

UNQUESTIONING loyalty to one’s country is seen by many as their paramount obligation. Others would rephrase Stephen Decatur’s words, ‘My religion, may she always be right; but my religion, right or wrong.’

GERMAN- Unfrigging believable ! Well, no not really. But it really creeps me out that not only your dad or anybody else can look at the obvious awful handling of the child abuse crisis and turn their heads the other way ! I'm sorry he gave you that response . You have my sympathy bro. Can't wait to see what my family says. Peace out my friend, Mr. Flipper

This will not help my parents, they are too far gone but it will help re-enforce what my sister and brother know about the lie of the society. I just sent them the link at youtube.

My family already knows about how the elders hide molesting cases having been a victim of that tactic. It didn't make us leave right away. After finding out about many more local cases, it did make me leave. The others stay, "waiting on Jehovah" to correct matters. It is hard for them to believe that there are so many cases because they are hidden and telling other about it can lead to that person being df'd themselves. Most jws fear men in the WTS more than they fear God; I don't even think many really believe in God and that he will do something to punish the bad. But it is worth a try. You may plant a seed that will be watered by other events as time goes by.

MRS. JONES- So sorry your parents won't listen. I'm sure some of my relatives are too far gone in their devotion to the lie also. But I'm glad for you that your sister and brother see through the scam that is the watchtower society.

BLONDIE- Very insightful comments ! I too was affected by the child abuse coverups by the society. It hurt me deeply to see an organization I was raised in do this to innocent children. It has been one of the many big reasons I have never gone back to the witnesses after leaving 4 years ago . I'm glad you got out too sis ! Yes, it's interesting that those still inside the organization can't or won't believe the extent the child abuse problem has grown into. So many cases. If we all knew how many children have really been molested, it would probably even shock us outside the witnesses ! I also feel it is the " cult mind control " the Watchtower puts inside the heads of each witness that keeps them in fear of the governing body and men, instead of fearing God. It is just sick. Hopefully some of our families will listen to this NBC coverage and have a change of heart about this crisis

Just wanted to bump this thread up if anyone else has had a chance to get feedback from witness relatives about the NBC coverage of the child abuse settlements. So here is a good place to let it be known what responses you got from family ! Thanks for your input ! Peace out, Mr. Flipper

Doin' the bump on the thread thing in case anyone has more experiences to share talking with their JW relatives about the NBC news coverage of child abuse scandal

I contacted an old friend, almost family. She's now an elder's wife. She was impacted by molestation from an elder years ago. So, you'd think she'd be interested.

She just whitewashed it. She said that the Society is now very responsive to pedophile issues, and she knew that they now reported it to authorities. She said that she was unhappy about her own situation...but she later learned that the abuser was "handled" (whatever that means). Anyway, she continues to be a faithful JW....

I contacted my baptised sister. She had no interest in hearing the report. She said that the Society warned them a few weeks ago that there would be "damaging news about some of the past JW sinners." The talk blamed it on the individual JWs, and not Jehovah's Organization. She said I was becoming an apostate, and that she was considering her relationship with me.....

I contacted my brother who left the organization before I did. He was disgusted.

What I Learned.... The Dubs need the Organization & its promises of a New World. They will protect it from outside attack. One day, perhaps, they will see it for what it's worth...

SKEETER- Very interesting , thanks ! It is amazing to me that a abuse victim can respond as this elders wife did and uphold the horrible ways the organization has handled these cases and whitewash it , in spite of being abused herself ! How do you spell cult mind control ? Also, interesting your sister said there was a warning talk to let people know there was going to be a news release on this child abuse crisis. It goes to figure. The WTS is all about damage control. If they can't control the damage coming from outside the organization, they will control the damage it does on the inside of the organization. truly sick and pathetic ! They must really need their delusions in life
